Hi all,
I just installled SAF4 on a fresh XPSP3 machine, fully patched, DVBFix applied.

SAF-Installation routine complains about two issues :

• "Wrong DirectX Version. You should upgrade" .
  Upgrade ? To what ? dxdiag reports version 9.0c, so I meet the SAF ands MP requirements.
  
  
• "false VMR9 version". ( Sorry , donnt have the screen any more) .

Should I ignore and simply proceed ?

Dear Hoborg,

I have a strange problem.

Passthrough did not work with SAF 5 in my windows xp configuration.

So I downgraded to SAF 4.

Now Passthrough works with MPC (chain [haali media plitter] -> [avi<->AC3/DTS] -> [ffdshow audio decoder] ->[audio switcher] -> [Directshow render]) but not with mediaportal. Graphstudio is not able to render the file (an mkv, as example) too.

I configured everything as told (postprocessing etc) but with no luck. Moreover if I take a look at the graph used by mediaportal the filter added to postprocessing (ffdshow audio decoder) are not put into the graph.

Could you please help me?

p.s When I try to manually reproduce tha chain in graphstudio, it seems that Mediaportal Audio Switcher ([audio switcher] in the previous chain) is not able to connect to directsound render (as if the directsound renderd does not accept spdif), while it connect smoothly in the mpc graph

I've tried searching this thread for "planet earth", but couldn't find an easy answer, so forgive me if this is answered before...(and perhaps should go into the FAQ)

System; Vista 64 bits, SP2.
CPU ; Intel I3
Media Portal : 1.1.0
GPU : ATI RAdeon HD5450 (with week old drivers)
Saf 4.00 (stable)
Video : 1080p to LCD via VGA.
Audio : SPDIF via motherboard to external receiver

So I've installed SAF 4.00 and all works well (Thank you very much for all your work!).

DVXA works for most mkv files, however the "Planet Earth" clip that is mentioned here;
Watching H.264 videos using DirectX Video Acceleration (DXVA) >> My collection of short anime reviews
doesn't not work with DXVA (resulting in stuttering picture, audio choppy etc.)

I've tried with MPC-HC (the SAF 4.00 version) and same result there.
I even tried re-encoding the sample with Xvid4PSP and a video setting that mentioned "DXVA" in it's name,
and apart from getting an ugly green line at the bottom of the file, same result - no DXVA in MPC-HC.
(Edit: Yes, I now see I picked the wrong video encoder, but I would like to not encode files, as it takes forever, will try with correct settings tonight)

Am I missing something obvious here?
According to Watching H.264 videos using DirectX Video Acceleration (DXVA) >> My collection of short anime reviews, I should be able to play it with DXVA,
althouh I haven't followd that guide (as I don't want to install more splitters etc. that might screw up SAF).

I use SAF beta23.
And never have had a problem until now..
I have a file containing A_AC3 audio (true hd ac3) and no audio is coming out. VLC plays it.
Is there some easy thing i have forgotten maybe ?

HD audio is supported in SAF5.

Just wondered if it is posible to upgrade MPC-HC by myself or if i have to switch to SAF5?

Is SAF5 to be considered "Semi- Stable" for now, so it could be time for a switch?
The Problem is that i have somde x264 Animes which are not working with SAf by now.

Update: I cane manually create a filter with no spdif passthrough. If afterwards I activate the spidif passthorugh in a filter (MPA or FFDshow, it's the same), passthrough works. But not if I activate the passthrough since the beginning. I think I have a problem with directsound render, but it's windows builtin USB audio driver...

To sum it up:

1. If I have a passthrough ac3 stream, it can't be rendered (with graphedit & MP)
2. If I downmix to stero the ac3 stream ina filter (MPa or ffdshow), it CAN be rendered. Moreover if I afterward re-active the passthrough, it works (with Graphedit)
3. MPC can handle the passthrough with no problems at all

Ideas?

i reboot try again, and the same, its just saying downloading...
and nothing happens..

H.. What are the files its trying to dl?

i gave up yesterday, but today it works i guss some connection problem or something yesterday..
Maybe add a timeout and or a progress bar
