Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Hi,

Hoborg

this Weekend i´ve made a new Cleaninstall of Win7. After all I install SVN 100823 unlocked and it works very good. All my Videos, TV and Onlinevideos works.:D

But now Iam a little bit confused about your new SVN Version. What means DVB Hotfix, is this necassary to install ?

Please explain what this means .

On the other hand, can I use the SVN 100823 whithout any sorros until the final Version of SAF 5 is released ?

And a basic Question:

What version of SAF would you recommended for WIN7 - SAF4 or SAF5 ?:D

Best Regards
Harald
Latest one :)
DVB hotfix is XP only, it is not installed on Vista/Win7.

Sorry, I haven't read all the 142 pages but I would like to know if this will allow me to bitstream DTS-MA and DTS-TrueHD with MP (I'm using ATI 5770)?

Yes.

OK, i understand:D

But for me I will not updated my Codecs every Week because my WIN7 is clean and all runs . In the Past my OS crashed two Times and I am not sure what it caused.
I had install and reinstall Codecs many Times....

Best Regards
Harald

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    Hey Hoburg,

Just getting back on to my own personal pursuit of perfection, i've looked through the Profiles portion of FFDShow, and have modified the rules a little, quite simple really, didn't know about that feature, the issue with video corruption previously mentioned ended up being primarily with footage 720p or lower, so i've set two profiles in the DXVA Decoder:

720p or lower has no h264 acceleration
    higher is hardware accelerated.

This appears to be working ok now, still haven't been through everything yet, but everything has worked so far.

**I should stop troubling my MePo, but i can't help tinkering :) **

So it would seem as though there is one single issue remaining, not sure where the cause of the problem lies, but it's consistently repeatable, which is the audio stutter upon FFWD/Skip for TrueHD tracks played from BluRay disc. This doesn't appear to be an issue if i use an external Player(not having a moan, i love the menuless playback ability), but i'd love to be able to go back or forwards through a movie if needed. I'm 100% sure this has happened with every version of ffdshow that i've tried so far, so i doubt a fix is instantly available, but i thought i might bring it up anyways....... ya never know :p

    Awesome work by the way!!

**also, not sure if you wanted to continue the discussion regarding the different configs, anything you want tested? **

You have any 720p sample with broken DXVA on ATI?

AW: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    Hi there,
I finally jumped to saf 5 from 4 stable.
I have some stuttering and a lot of dropped Frames when using FFdshow. However using PDVD10 for mpeg2 anf h264 worked out nicely.
Now I was wondering if there are any downsides on PDVD10 besides subtitle support (which I don´t use)

    :D

Attached, stops after the first couple of seconds, corruption is different than with SD footage, i don't think i explained that too well previously. for the 2 seconds it runs for, it looks good :)

You don't have Haali media splitter installed do you? **comes with mkv matroska pack**

    FFDShow MPEG-2:

    +HW deinterlacing even for DVDs
+brightness correction to make black=black (not grey)
    +crop black borders

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    Hi Hoborg,
I have a couple of questions.

In the opening post it says "Do not add anything in to MePo postprocessing!"
Does this only account for DVD codec settings or also for Video and TV?

If I have files with DD+ or DTS-HD audio and my receiver can only handle 5.1 DD and DTS, do I need to change something in ffdshow to have correct output (5.1 Spdif) to my receiver for these files?

With Bluray handler and SAF 5 it is possible to play Bluray files that are stored on a network HDD, right?
