Updated to SAF v.6.2.0, it seem all OK :)
A question about LAV Video control pannel: software deinterlacing (YADIF) must be enabled or disabled?
I use LAV Video (and LAV Audio) for ALL my files (BR, mkv, avi, DVD, ecc.....).

    Thanks
    Hi.
By SAF default, LAVF video decoder is used only for DVDs, so deinterlacing is enabled by default.
What mean "LAVF video decoder is used only for DVDs"? The settings in MP config are are by-pass?

No, if you set LAVF video decoder for TV, it will be used for TV, but thit is not SAF default settings.

Using LAVF deinterlacing is good for DVDs, but not for LiveTV for example.

So using SAF default settings as on first page of this thread is recommended.

I recently updated SAF to 6.19 and experienced black/green (black in MP, green in mpc-hc) screen when playing h.264 media. This happened in mediaportal, wmp and mpc-hc. Mediaportal codec settings were not changed after updating, they were still like suggested in the first post. I have no idea how I solved it since I tried so many different things like reinstalling saf, uninstalling saf, installing new amd gpu drivers. At some point it was magically solved :).
Now I have the same problem after upgrading MP to 1.3 and SAF to 6.2.
When using ffdshow dxva as h.264 codec in mediaportal only a black screen is shown and video freezes, when I exit MP an error is shown "mediaportal has stopped working" - this is not shown until I exit MP!
When using LAVF as h.264 codec and enabling dxva in LAVF green video is show, but playback continues. When DXVA is disabled it works fine.
So.. it all comes down to dxva it seems - but why?

Another question regarding audio however: recommended settings are lavf audio even for aac, but this way I only get 2 channel output for 5.1 channel aac - what am I doing wrong (works for dts and dd5.1)?
    Thanks
    John

    Hi.
    What GPU do you have?

About the audio - are you using audio passthrough?
By default, SAF do downmix to stere.

    Thanks for replying.
ATI Radeon 4300 - it has worked fine until updating...I have now installed ffdshow seperately, and h.264 now seems to be working in mediaportal with dxva enabled, but not in graphstudio and mpc-hc where the video is just green.

Regarding audio: yes passthrough. when installing saf I answer yes to passthrough for ac3, but not for hd audio since I have an old receiver.. aac has worked earlier, now only dts and dd5.1 works with multichannel.

    Try different GPU drivers.
There is no way how to passthrough AAC. But you can use ReClock or MePo audio renderer to conver 5.1 AAC to 5.1 AC3 and passthrough it.

I've just upgraded from a couple of version back to the latest with no problems apart from the PDVD codec it gives me is still the Pdvd10 not 12. I'mpretty sure I have the unlocked version as I remember that from my last install. Any suggestions to solve this as at the moment any HD TV is very stuttery and unwatchable with my CPU hitting 100% sometimes, but if I play the same file in TMT3 there is no problem at all with my CPU down low.

I have my codecs settings as you suggest in the Mepo setup. Thanks
