Hi again Mars Warrior

To be completely honest I am baffled. :(
But, but, but you're the lead developer, you can't be baffled, you should just be fixing things :D:D
Just last week (Friday 23 Sept) I purchased an S480 for MediaPortal testing and support. It arrived on Friday and I've been testing it for the past hour or so. It works perfectly with my EMP Centauri 9x8 multiswitch. I know there are three major differences in our setups (2 x S470 vs. S480, multytenne dish vs. multiswitch, W7 vs. XP) but at least my testing tells me that MediaPortal *does* support DiSEqC switching with TeVii tuners.
That's at least good to know. And it should of course, as DVBLink and DVBViewer work OOB!

a. I guess my next question would be how have you connected the two tuners to the dish - have you got the twin output dish?
b. Have you tried testing with the second tuner?
c. Why are you using the DVBS network provider (best to use the generic one for the moment I think)?
a. Yes, I do have the twin output dish. One output per tuner
b. Yes, I did at first, but not in the test I send you this morning. Will do the same again with the second tuner
c. I did use the generic at first, but found the DVBS hint on the forum in case of scanning problems...

What happens if you just test with a single transponder - try pick something with a different FEC rate (I can't test 5/6 here, only 3/4 and 2/3):

Frequency = 11307000
SR = 27500
Polarisation = Vertical
Modulation = Not Set
Inner FEC Rate = Not Set (or 2/3)
*DVB-S2 scanning disabled*

Try both of the tuners and each of the DiSEqC settings with the original 1.2.1 TVLibrary.dll. If that doesn't work we'll have to contact TeVii support about this issue as I don't have any further ideas at this point...

mm
Never used manual tuning before, but will give it a try together with testing the second tuner after I'm done with cutting down the tree in the garden and didn't fall of the ladder in a way I can't use my head & hands anymore :cool:

After two days of testing I come to the conclusion that one of the S470 cards is flaky and that MP is a bit more sensitive / strict with cards that misbehave (a bit) than DVBViewer is.

In other words: MP seems to work with the second tuner and although DVBViewer works with both, the first tuner shows much longer channel switch delays if diseqc must be used to switch to another sat...

I did switch the cables from the dish to make sure that it isn't the dish itself that is causing problems, but again the first card showed problems, where the second card worked!

It seems though that not all FTA channels work (red cross in mini EPG Guide?!?!?!), but that's something I will check this week.
Encrypted channels didn't work at first until I discovered that I haven't watched sat tv for a long time and I had to reactivate the card because both management and provider entitlements where expired...

For now, I will use the first card only for the first sat, and the second for all 4 and look for a new second card since I think I don't have any guarantee anymore. Since I need low profile, there is not much choice. First candidates would be a S470 or the S480. Some German shops do seem to sell the S480 for just a little more than the S470, where others double the price of the S470...

Furthermore I will check the FTA channels for possible problems after I've done a full scan to make sure it isn't a relic from scanning with the flaky card.

:D mm for your time & tips for testing. It does seem that even a baffled developer is always right!

    Hi again

    I don't know if we're any more "strict". DVBViewer may be failing on the first tuner and trying with the second tuner behind the scenes.

    I did switch the cables from the dish to make sure that it isn't the dish itself that is causing problems, but again the first card showed problems, where the second card worked!
    Hmm, definitely that card. :(

    It seems though that not all FTA channels work (red cross in mini EPG Guide?!?!?!), but that's something I will check this week.
    Check the meaning of the icons -->here<--. The red cross you're referring to probably means unavailable. All channels that are not on the same transponder will be unavailable when you only have one tuner and you tune a specific channel.

    thx mm for your time & tips for testing. It does seem that even a baffled developer is always right!
    No problem - I will say that I'm definitely not always right, but I'm happy that in this case you were able to find out what was going on. :)

    Hi again

    Aha, misinterpretation from my side about the meaning of "unavailable".
    Somewhere this week I will configure the whole TV part of MP and probably understand every single bit of the MP TV Section:oops:

    After that iPIMP is the next thing to install & configure to watch TV on iPhone / iPad.
    Moving Pictures & Series plugin already work!

    No problem - I will say that I'm definitely not always right, but I'm happy that in this case you were able to find out what was going on. :)

    Yes, lucky I had a second card, otherwise it would have been a bit more difficult to find out what was going on!
    The manual setting you proposed (valid channel for sat 1 and sat 4) helped me alot in testing & verifying the result.
