Hi,
You can manually set up a recording in MP Home -> MyTV -> Scheduled -> new.
Or if you use TVGuide, just click on a program you want to record & this takes you into record menu.
The scheduled tv program start automaticly when I don't look TV.
But I have a dual tuner card. AverMedia AverTV Puriy-3D MCE 500.
I haved try set capture cards from different way:
1) card1 -> Television true , recording false
card2 -> Television false , recording true
with and whithout timeshifting
2) card1 -> Television true , recording true
card2 -> Television true , recording true
with and whithout timeshifting
Why MP don't search a avalaible tuner for recording ?
Hi,
You should provide system specs & logs as specified to be sure to get support. It will only be guessing because we don't know whats your specific problem.
Have you added the channels to both cards (this has to be done when you have dual cards)?
Dual tuner card AverMedia AverTV Puriy-3D MCE 500
XP HE SP2 with DirectX 9.0c
Captures card are set like that:
card1 -> Television true , recording false
card2 -> Television false , recording true
The channel and the input source are setup on the 2 tuners
NOTE: card1 and card2 are the friendly name that MP give her. I confirm that TV card has 2 tuners.
I can watch TV program while recording another, use timeshifting etc.. all work really fine. The only problem is when I watch TV, the scheduler doesn't start.
Before posting my log files:
I turn off MP
I start MP
The TV start with the actual channel
I schedule for 14H00 a weekly TV program for a another channel.
I watch the actual channel, while the schedule program start
14H01 nothing...
Hi,
Check this first:
In MP Setup (Configuration) -> Television -> TV Channels & TV Cards & Check that "map channels to TV cards", both card can access the same channels.
Other
I usually give the card i watch TV with the highest priority & recording cards (other channels then the one i watch) lowest & always set both cards to do both (watch & recording).
If you cant get it to work, Start MP & schedule a recording, then watch another channel & let the recording start, then wait until finish & upload the logs here again. I couldn't see in the previous log that the card tried to record @ all (but that also could mean I'm watch to many logs today ).
Gracenote has a round robin for its DNS and they have changed it several times.
Copy the below and make it a batch file (zap2it_check.bat) and then run it every so often (or when your automated update fails) you can check the dns to see if the round robin has changed. If so you can just reedit your hosts file.

On the assumption you are using an OTA/Cable or Sat tuner then no internet connection is required for live TV recordings. BUT only if you already have Media Portal fully installed and functional. For all practical purposes you will need an internet connection to get Media Portal properly installed on a PC!
