Scrambled channels sometimes working, sometimes not (1 Viewer)

Hi,

could that problem be also apply on my hauppauge hvr4000 with the wintv-ci? I now got a Smit Conax Cam and before that I tried it also with a Technicrypt CX, but same behaviour like with the first cam just only a few channels works and the others just say channel is scrambled :\ But the ones that work do it without problems And as I could see in some logs at the beginning of this thread, the logs look on my HVR like the logs on other cards, there seems video to be descrambled but audio fails and MP says channel is totaly scrambled :\ ???

I'll have a look at it, could you please do the following:

1. make sure cam is working
2. clear logs
3. tune channels a few times -> press stop
4. tune channels until cam stops working
5. try if the last successfully tuned channel is still working

I'm pleased to report (after a short, ~45 minute test) that the patch appears to work. Previously, connection to the CAM was always lost within the first 30 minutes of watching scrambled channels.

My previously problematic Dilog/Smit Conax CAM details are:
Software version: CNX-STD-2.5.6m2
Hardware version: 2.2.1

As a side note, has anyone had success using the latest DE x86 driver available here? Even on MP 1.1.0 with the latest patch, both scanning and tuning seem unreliable on DVB-C with XP SP3. Don't know if the OS makes a difference.

I see frequent

PMT Pid wasn't found on the PAT. Channel may have moved, try a new channel scan.

messages in tswriter.log.

But furthermore I've got to say that I can't really say if CAM is 100% working, got no additional equipment to test only the wintv-ci, but it's just bought and new and is behaving the same way as the one I had a week before, that was new too, but I gave it back cause I thought it is the faulty part in the chain! Therefore my smartcard is working 100% I could test it by a friend and there all channels within my subscription are working flawless.

Nevertheless you said that I should tune a channel, supposed you are talking about scrambled channels, and so I tried it for 3 times (Channel: TVN) but couldn't stop it because I've got everytime the "channel is scrambled" dialog so it just isn't starting. the 4th time I've started another channel within my subscription (TVP1) that is working and then back to the first one (TVN) without stopping, but again the info that the channel is scrambled!?!

I hope you can tell me a bit more, because the only thing I can see in the logs as "nondeveloper" is this:

Oh and nearly forgot: Cam is now a Conax with Softwareversion: CNX-STD-2.5.9m2 and Hardwareversion 2.2.1
And the wintv-ci is a new rev2 with newest drivers, my Hauppauge HVR4000 too, also MP is newest version and latest SVN.

Ok I had a look at the logs and this is most definitely a different problem than the one discussed in this thread. You should open up a new topic. Are you able to tune this channels with hauppauge tv software?

I think you're completely right with you assumption but I can't really tell you why this is happening since I don't have the card/ci and I'm not all that familiar with the tv server code.

One thing I noticed when going through your logs:

You could try to enable "prefer ac3" in the tv settings (mediaportal config) but that's a long shot

thanks a lot for your effort looking into the logs, I won't mess this thread any further with this knowing now that I have a different problem And I'll try playing a little with the AC3 sound options maybe that helps and will open a new thread for this, maybe one of the Devs can help me and maybe other wintv-ci users, that have similar problems.

Could only tune "tv3" just at the beginning, no success in tuning other non-fta than that. Tried to go back to tv3 and first I got black screen, then just audio, then both audio and video. Tried to tune "kanal5" on the same freq - black screen.

I did a bit more testing with the modded DLL. In the attached logs you'll find tests done with my old TechniCrypt CX Conax Cam (Software version: 26.1.5.0.6) from today 19:49 -> ~20:46 and the new Dilog Conax Cam from there on until the end of the log.

The old cam appeared to work fine through the whole hour of zapping back and forth FTA and premium channels. However, the new cam failed after a while. The log shows that the audio stream is scrambled. Previously (see my earlier post), I just left one encrypted channel on for about an hour and zapped channels a few times after that.

However, I'm not really confident with the stability and realiability of the latest SVN on Win XP (see my report on FDTV driver problems). The audio problem may well not be related to the patch you made as ARE2 reported the same problem earlier in this thread without your patch. None of the channels I have subscribed to carry AC3 audio.

Hi, I had a quick look through your log and I think it should be working... The important thing is that the card receives a mmi close after tuning a channel. In the log files this looks like:

For the first few times this object was received and you could tune channels but it stopped later on.

Could you do some more tests:

1. Disable EPG grabbing
2. Pull out the cam and reinsert it
3. Encrypted channels should work now
4. Make a few channel changes
5. Stop TV a few times (press stop on remote)
6. ONLY use the MediaPortal Tv client (not TV preview)
7. Don't browse the CI menu (makes log files a little messy)
