I'm using windoze XP Media Centre on the server running MP and the Web Interface.

However, I managed to fix it, I'm not too sure what was wrong, but I managed to create a new user for MySQL and then managed to get the Web Interface to use that new user.

TBH I would prefer if I was using Linux, coz then I could just use phpmysql, which I am much more use to, but hey hey, MP doesn't support Linux sadly ;)

Anyway, it is all working now, haven't had any more crashes so I guess that was due to using the same MySQL user as MP was using, so no real surprise there ;)

Since I am using a Linux server to host my MySQL database, the table names are case sensitive. This means that the plugin fails to see the CamelCase table names that seem to be the standard in Media Portal. :(

    I've got it too...

    Hi Guys,

I just discoverd this plugin a few weeks ago and I must say it worked great!:D

However, this week I installed MP V1.1Alpha and as it was a fresh install, I installed mySQL instead of SQLServer. Now if I want to record a program I get the error message:

Error: [AnyDAC][Phys][MySQL][LIBMYSQL] Field 'series' doesn't have a default value

Lookin with SQL Admin I see that in the table "schedule" none of the fields have a default value.

    Any ideas?

    :D

I recently gutted my PCs and went with Win 7, which incidentally runs MP w/TV Server in client/server beautifully so far...with RTM and with public preview versions of Win 7 (Must use MP Alpha with latest SVN)...great work devs!

I have my MP Web Interface running nicely, but I get the same prob as PHD...

My prev. setup was XP Pro for server and Vista 32 for client. It was recommended to use MySQL for Win 7, as it is leaner and known to work.

Anyway, I'm a bit stumped. The rest of the interface so far works fine (havent tested streaming or remote - I use iPiMP for that, anyway.)

I know Big Kev said recently that he'd be back on the scene, but the code for MPWeb has fallen behind some of MPs capabilities. He did have a life changing experience, losing someone dear to him, so we can't demand too much from him.

Anyway, you guys might want to follow the development of iPiMP, if you aren't already, as Cheezey is re-writing it to be more compatible over a wide range of browsers/devices...the iPhone support is already phenomenal, and the best in the business.

Also, while my mind is on it, is anyone out there building MP systems commercially? i.e. selling TV server setups to clients and supporting them?

I am a system builder of 15 years experience, and apart from my 3 year quest for personal media bliss, I have so far built around 6 other MP systems for people. In that time, I've found what works, what doesn't, and a million other bits of info along the way.

Should we start a new thread for "commercial builders" who presently, or would like in the future to sell, support, and make some money from, MP TV Server setups?

Although my local industry is tough and very competitive, my first idea is to create a FIRM base of tested hardware so that we can have at least a reference platform that ticks a bunch of boxes in terms of minimum capability. You could do it for both ATI and Intel hardware. We could then get some nice stickers made to signify the hardware contained is "MePo Friendly". (My kids LOVE MePo by the way! He does work as a product identity...we just need to get him seen more!)

We could charge say $10 - $20 for each sticker (probably cost a couple of dollars each to produce), and give all proceeds to MP as donations to help the devs out.

The MP Devs have done a brilliant job to mold MP into a tight, feature packed, extensible, stable and mature product - they all deserve medals - from Frodo (where is he?) all the way down to the latest recruits. To all of you guys out there that have slaved for years over MP to get it just right, and have learned mountains of good facts, now buried deep in their brains, what do you say to setting up a "guild" of professional MP addicts that make and sell full-blown TV Server solutions to a hungry market???

MP can be huge...but it will need "front-line troops" to go out there and sell it!

    Peace :D
