Server-client setup (1 Viewer)

I'm simply trying to setup mediaportal as a server on one computer (wich as the pictures and sound) and start mediaportal as a client interface on a computer connected to my tv

You can serve content to MediaPortal from another box, but there is no real client/server setup for MediaPortal.

You setup a shared folder on the machine you have content you want MP to use, and then tell MP to go look in that shared folder for content.

When you setup the directories in mediaportal, I noticed an FTP option. Any idea if I could setup an ftp server and use that ?

You only wanna do that if you are connecting to a let's say friends FTP to share that data... Otherwise I'd go with Khris' suggestion: sharing folders on the server and tell the client where MP is installed to look at the shared folders on the server.

quick hint ...

use unc paths such as:

\\server ip\sharename

some have reported that Windows doesn't always auto-reconect shares after a reboot and stating the share as above solves the problem.
