Tell me what to do! We need to tackle this! I'm sure it's something with mp, but i realize that we need to reproduce the fault

If there is a bug then we need to identify it. I have not seen anything in logs which suggests an issue inside MP.

First step would be to try and install 1.0.2 and see if you have problems. If you don't have problems then try RC1 and then RC2 etc to see where the issues start.

Other thing is to check the card works with the software supplied with the card.

You are using DVB-C yes? Ideally it would be good to use a different card (and CAM if you are using one) but I realise that is easier said than done.

As above though, there are so many variables that we can't rule out that are outside of MP
    • Drivers for your TV card
    • CAM firmware
    • Conflicts with other software installed on your system
    • Your TV provider
    • Your graphics card
    • Your display
    • Refresh rate
and these are outside of MP

then in MP you have things like
    • One of the hundreds of different settings in MP or TV config
    • DVB EPG grabbing
    • Other installed plugins

then imagine it could be a combination of any / all of these...

As above, I am running TV on XP with DVB-T and DVB-S tuners, SD and HD channels and all is good. That said I do not use DVB EPG grabbing or some of the TV plugins etc and I am based in the UK...

    He guys,

I just did a fresh install of 1.0.2... Used option 3 in the uninstall... So everyting deleted.

First i got a "unknown error".. So i deleted mysql and used ms sql.
Then a did a freq scan. Maybe it are old transponder lists, but i got some no signal warnings on certain ranges.

Then i tryed to watch livetv and i got still the same probs as with 1.1.0 rc5

:oops: I did not change anyting else on my system....

Looks like it has nothing to do with mp!... or?

To make clear that i did not changed anything in setup from 1.0.2 till 1.1.0 rc5.. No hardware no software, the only thing that changed was the mp version

Thanks so much for your efforts.

I know it is a major inconvenience to reinstall a different version of MP and TVE3 for testing.

Not sure why MySQL caused you a problem.

Could it be a windows hotfix or similar since it was all last working? This sort of thing is really difficult to pin down. I am at a complete loss at the moment, but will try to come up with ideas. Have you updated your TV card drivers? Do you have different versions that you can test?

Please bear in mind that 1.1.0 is soon to be released, so I know that the team will not be making major changes right now.

Now i did a clean win 7 install. Used the drivers where windows came up with.
Installed mp, saf 4... And it's running smoooooth!! used the original win 7 codecs for HD livetv. The other codecs following saf 4.0 guide.

Win 7 is much more plug and play. It took me a few hours to configure the lot.
Still have to do some stress testing, but for now it looks great!!

Now im of to bed :)

I'm on Vista and since the last 3 or 4 RC releases I've had problems like (from the top of my head and translated from dutch version): "cannot start live2.0buffer.ts", 'no audio/video detected', 'unknown error', MP-freeze that can be solved by hitting the stop button twice, etc. This is ONLY when hitting the channel for the first time, hitting the channel again after you hit ok for the errormessage, and the channel always works!

This happens only sometimes, about 5 or 10% of the time.

But that's not the main thing I posted. I wanted to ask you what your experience is in Vista with the cyberlink decoder for live tv.
And why do you prefer the the standard MS decoders?

Don't you find the vmr9 colors a bit disappointing compared to EVR? I really prefer EVR...what EVR-stutter do you experience in detail?

EDIT: what problems are gone in WIN7 compared to Vista? And what problems have suddenly appeared compared to Vista?

Only EVR is supported with vista and win7 so you have to use EVR. I agree with you, EVR has a better picture quality then VMR9. Provided you have a good video card and set a correct refresh rate you should not experience stutter with SD and HDTV. I experience some stutter with 1:2 content (like 25fps xvid rendered at 50hz) probably from a bug in evr renderer. There are workarounds, through.

Windows 7 is definitely better then vista: it's less CPU intensive and UAC is less intrusive.

 Then why is Oekie saying he's using VMR9 in WIN7 because EVR gives him stutter?
    Oekie, could you clarify?

robyf, what codecs do you use for SD and HD tv? In Europe most tv material is 25fps, so all is rendered with 1:2 at 50hz here... do you experience problems with stutter there too?

Supported is being a different thing that being available. MediaPortal team itself wont give any support nor recommend VMR9 to be used in Windows 7 / Vista since MP's implementation contains bugs (those wont be fixed, not enough reason and missing developers...) and VMR9 is only giving software level support for decoding (OS limitation).
