Only EVR is supported with vista and win7 so you have to use EVR.

 Then why is Oekie saying he's using VMR9 in WIN7 because EVR gives him stutter?
Oekie, could you clarify?

Supported is being a different thing that being available. MediaPortal team itself wont give any support nor recommend VMR9 to be used in Windows 7 / Vista since MP's implementation contains bugs (those wont be fixed, not enough reason and missing developers...) and VMR9 is only giving software level support for decoding (OS limitation).

Aah, so VMR9 is available in MP for Win7, but not supported and one doesn't have to use EVR.
So the pros for VMR9 in Win7 are less stutter in live TV, cons are it contains bug (?? what kind of bugs), no HW-dec. support, lower image quality.
The pros for EVR are HW support and better image quality, cons are more stutter in live tv, contains bugs (evr renderer causes stutter in 1:2 content (like 25fps xvid rendered at 50hz)

The stutterbugs maybe are more serious than the bugs in VMR9? That's probably why oekie is not using EVR.

robyf, what codecs do you use for SD and HD tv? In Europe most tv material is 25fps, so all is rendered with 1:2 at 50hz here... do you experience problems with stutter there too?

Sorry, didn't mean VMR9 is not available under win7 or vista, you can use it but you will probably experience problems and you will miss DXVA.

As for TV, in Europe most material is 25fps interlaced, after deinterlacing you will have 50fps content. That's why SDTV and HDTV are 50fps rendered 50hz (at least in Italy, but I think in other european countries too).

I use microsoft codec for SD and HDTV.

The stutter bug appears to me only with xvid files (25fps) played at 50hz after about 15mins/20mins of playing. SDTV and HDTV (50fps, 50hz) are stutter free here (look at my HW configuration, it's not so impressive). There are even people who do not suffer from this bug (it really depends from HW configuration).

I think using VMR9 under win7 is not a real solution, you will loose DXVA and also picture quality is really bad. Looking at oekie's hardware configuration his PC should be perfectly able to render SDTV and probably HDTV stutterfree with EVR. It's only a matter of identifying the problem, which could be driver related or configuration related (refresh rate settings, for instance, or used codecs).

Maybe we should have a thread for people who successfully have SD\HD working, with both TV and Video and all with correct sync for audio ;)

Might point to something that's a common factor amongst those users.

Please read my signature and answer.

You can use reclock, for instance (only on videos, not TV), with vsync correction disabled. You can also try tony's DLL:

    Thanx, for your answer.

Unfortunately the stutter is related to TV and not to video...

Well, the solution that was offered should be of benefit to TV and video.

If you want help, you need to actually tell us what problems you are seeing, what system (SDTV, HDTV), computer specs you are using and provide logs.

It is clear that some people are having problems. It does only seem to be a small number (happy people are busy watching their TVs and not posting here), but there is clearly a problem. As Ray says, we need to try to identify common factors. However, I don't think this will be quick to fix.

    @All

Please bear in mind, that I'm not complaining at all, I just asked for the work around because I've a stutter in SD and HD TV. I thought that maybe the workaround could be a solution to my problem. Nothing wrong with that right?

    But thanx for the support!

Than on a positive note: I love MediaPortal => Thanx a lot dev's!!!

    Regards,

    Mr. Breaker
