@DJBlu I understand your time constraints issue is going to prevent you doing further development or support, and that's fair enough - you've put plenty of time in over the years into that plugin. Why lock the thread though? We'll end up with support questions which others may well be able to answer fragmented across the forum, and in this thread where it doesn't really belong.

Can you not just put a notice at the beginning of the original thread, and leave it open? Otherwise I guess there needs to be a new thread for support created.

It's a shame there isn't anyone else who can take up the project (it's waaaay too complicated for me!), I'm another who wouldn't bother using Mediaportal if this plugin didn't exist.

To add to the above, the key bit for me is to be able to use the Sky EPG data as I've got FTA channels which aren't on the Freesat EPG. Ideally MP would be able to handle that natively without any patches, but I believe that's not the case. What do people consider the easiest alternative now @DJBlu is stopping any further development/support?

What will it take to get either/both of these EPG grabbers into the product properly? At the risk of asking a stupid question, why has that not happened already? I get the impression that there are enough users to warrant it, is it just down to priorities and workload of the various devs?

The easiest way to get the Sky EPG in to MediaPortal is to use EPGcollector and import the guide as an XML file; not quite the same as a direct import and you may have trouble with getting EPGcollector to work with a tuner that is in use by another program (i.e. TBS cards do not release any of the tuners even if they're free as long as they're occupied by a program).

It is a standalone program that can collect most of the EPGs in use today. Collected in the format of an XML file ready for importing. Google it and have a look.

Does it work with $ky UK?

It works by grabbing the EPG/LCNs when you run it. You can configure it to run every 3 hours, export the LCN/EPG data in to MediaPortal TVE3 and then MP will populate the guide. What it doesn't do is do automatic channel scans as it is separate to MP.

Ok, thanks - looks interesting... But compared to this thread's enhancements it'd be a backwards step in that I'd lose series recording functionality. It would be really great if miroslav's stuff could become mainstream...
