Hi there,
I thought I would just add my pinch of salt.
I was a long time user of Mirsolav's version of Sky Grabber but had to change to DJBlu's version to carry on using the later versions of Mediaportal.
Unfortunately, I never really got DJBlu's version to work for me - there was something about it (which I never really ascertained) that made my server act strangely in a way that Miroslav's did not.
Some guys on here and another forum suggested that I should forget DVB grabbing and instead grab from the internet for two main reasons:
1. The information provided online is for 14 days in advance and provides very detailed information - it always provides information about the season and episode (for example 1.1/16, which would be season 1, espisode 1 of 16).
2. You do not need series link any more as all you need to do is set Mediaportal Server to record a programme every time it is on a channel and then, under the recording tab, choose not to record duplicates, based upon episode information. This has the real advantage over series link in that if a recording does not take place for some reason (e.g. a clash or power cut) it will automatically record it at the next available opportunity.
The way I have been getting an (almost full) EPG is:
1. To use the XMLTV plugin to grab for all the most important channels.
2. To use the WEBEpg plugin for virtually all the rest (LisaG, one of the developers on here, showed me how to adapt this to get even more channels).
3. There are a very channels (worth watching) left that I did not have EPG for any I still use DVB grabbing just to fill in the gaps.
i would say give the Web grabbing a try - you might like it.
I am, however, intrigued by EPG Collector. Where does it grab the EPG from?
