Sky UK/IT/AUS enhancements (5 Viewers)

Hi - I'd like to try this sky UK epg enhancement as I have trouble getting xmltv to work. I have a Thompson Sky HD+ connected to my pc via composite leads and a Haup WINTV 150 mce card. Will this utility work with this combination?

Afraid not, you'll need a DVB-S or DVB-S2 (satellite tuner) card in your PC for this to work.

Oh poo - back to the drawing board. I hate xmltv. I have no trouble with it under Linux (mythdora etc) but can I get it to work here? Nope.

I´ll go think and read some more - it must be possible

I use to use xmltv before moving to this patch and it worked really well. I used mc2xml to pull an xmltv file from the net and then imported this to tv service. All I needed to do was match the channels in the xmltv to my setup then I had an event set to grab a new XML file each day and that was it... a 2 week epg.

Ok so here goes,

Firstly you will need to install MediaPortal v1.2.0 beta.

*** THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH ANY OTHER VERSIONS AND IT NEVER WILL ***

If you aren't willing to try the new beta then this isn't for you.

Ok so you've installed a fresh copy of MediaPortal.

Download the following zip file

Sky EPG and Channel Grabber MP 1.2.0Beta

Extract the files.

Install the 2 setup files.

Stop the TV service and close the Setup TV box.

Copy the Custom Data Grabber.dll to your TV server directory

Drive:\program files\Team MediaPortal\ (32bit)
Drive:\program files(x86)\Team MediaPortal\ (64 bit)

Copy the Sky UK Channel and EPG Grabber.dll to the TV server Plugin directory

Drive:\program files\Team MediaPortal\Plugins (32bit)
Drive:\program files(x86)\Team MediaPortal\Plugins (64 bit)

Start the TV Service

Open the Setup TV box.

Go to the plugins page and enable the Sky UK EPG and Channel Grabber.

You will now see the options available.

The channel settings are in there for Sky UK so you shouldn't have to change them.

Select your region and options then click grab.

It will populate your channels and your guide data in around 3 mins.

these will come with time.

The custom data grabber allows a lot without the modification of the TS writer.

We may one day have the red button feature on Freesat and freeview!

Hi,

Rather than fresh install I installed 1.2beta over top of 1.2alpha, then this new SKY scanner over that.:-

When grabbing data........it just sits there forever "Grabbing Data"........I left it 15mins (i7 cpu).
If I OK out and run MP then there are no SKY channel/catagories, and if I then run up TV config again and hit the Grab Now button again then it says "Already Grabbing".
So, I re-booted and tried to Grab Data again, same thing.

I have 2off Hauppage Nova S2 HD cards fitted (both at 28.2e). Re-scanning those cards in normal MP way is fine. PS. I also have a Usb sat card (for hotbird 13.0e) and also 2off Usb freeview cards.

Same thing happened with the old version of Sky tvscanner months ago on other versions of MP......I have never been able to use it.

Will try fresh install tonight and maybe rip my other cards out.

how does the update interval work in the current build? I assume it still grabs at least daily like in the current build where a refresh interval is set, just with no specific method to force a specific time?

Also, where you say series link to come, how does this differ from the 1.1.x version? Series recording worked ok for me in 1.1.2 and I am just trying to decide if its better to hold fire until this is in, or if its good to go..
