Starting work on Techno Trend Premium support (2 Viewers)

:lol: Congratulations, very good work... I hope the image quality will be one of the best because in other software it is the best i ever seen , wll it be HD compatible and the sound, when the channels provide, will transport AC3, DTS?
Can't wait for the support for MDAPI/ProgDVB plugins...

I am planning on working on support for the MD API as soon as I am done with TTPremium Support. If someone else wants to take it sooner, please do. My request would be that whomever writes it, do it as generic MD API support. Make sure it works with Media Portal in general and not a specific card in Media Portal and also make sure it handles the full MD API, not just a portion that deals with a specific plugin.

The MD API was supported in a earlier version of MP. It was removed due to reasons that can be found by searching this forum (there are some lengthy threads on this topic in general and SoftCAM in particular). So as much as I would personally like to see it, I wouldn't expect the main MP developers to support or even allow MD API support in MediaPortal.

Note to developers ... feel free to make a liar out of me

PS: Please don't post here about MDAPI/SoftCAM being legal etc. as that topic exists in great detail in other threads.

Ok, I don't want to hijack this thread to discuss MDAPI work, as this is the thread about Techno Trend Premium support. But here are a few comments before I ask that we start a new thread to talk about MDAPI if anyone wants to comment on it further.

Correct me if I am wrong, but generic MDAPI support has never been in MP. There was support for a very specific plugin, which was removed after some back and forth between the author of the plugin and the MP team. As I understand it, MDAPI integration as a way to use existing plugins has not been outlawed by the MP Team. Let me be REALLY CLEAR, I am not speaking for the MP Team, but just interpreting past posts I have read on the forum.

Second. And this is a BIG second. I really would like people to stop equating MDAPI or MDPlugins with decryption. MDAPI is just an API for writing plugins, there are MANY plugins out there written using the MDAPI that have nothing to do with decryption. Some are schedulers, some are EPG displays, some are Network broadcasters. The main reason I want to add MDAPI support to MP is because we could immediately start using a whole host of plugins that already exist for other DVB applications.

Last, I would like to bring this thread back around to it's original purpose. I made some good progress on the TTPremium support this weekend and hope it won't be long before it is done. I am literally down to debugging now.

If a new thread about MDAPI is open I urge everyone to stay polite, and avoid any discussion of illegal although legitimate plugins, so we can see the end of this.


My point of view : since there are perfectly legal and legitimate use of the MDAPI I see no point in arguing against it. Just my point of view.

Hey man, does this mean you can now tune to channels within MP and watch it until a bug crashes it down? ;-)

I didn't get anything accomplished this past weekend. Between being sick, having a sick baby, and XP going bye bye on my dev machine, I just didn't get around to it. Yeh, it was one of those weekends.
