I would like MP to automatically switch to FullScreen 800x600 in the second display(tv) on startup. Can this be done with a config file, or do I have to change device settings everytime I start MP?
This feature is not available, but it would be very interesting that the programmers implement it in future releases ( a drop down combo to select the destination screen to show MediaPortal)
That would be very nice but from what I know MediaPortal is not able to run only on secondary screen, isn't the picture the same as on primary? Then resolution on primary and secondary would have to change, right? Anyways, that would also be good, at least for me ;P My TV doesn't display 1280x1024 ;P and on the other hand 1024x768 on my LCD monitor is bearable but the degradation of picture quality is noticeable, so.. hmmm..
The best thing 4 me would be that MediaPortal could switch both resolution and display, i mean to switch off LCD at 1280x1024 and send signal to TV at (for example) 1024x768. That would be great
Using nVidia desktop manager, you can assign programs to start up in different desktops or displays. I played around with it, but I don't remember it working quite correctly at least for virtual desktops. Try it out for yourself though and see if it works with multiple displays.
easy way i've got it working (requires nView) is setup your computer for duel monitors in duelview mode then setting the HDTV to the primary display.
The only problem with this is if you want different desktop backgrounds, and have different resolutions (unless you use the same background then it works fine).
after that turn on nview desktop manager.
goto the Windows item and change the settings as needed (pritty much force everything onto your 2nd display).
Then goto the applications option and add a application, then setup setup media portal and set it to run on your TV forced on the screen.
Then it should work good. This is only a basic outline of what to do but most people should be able to fill in the gaps. (just make sure "Launch application on desktop" is set to Default).
Hello Fidoboy Ultramon looks very promising Can't wait to get my hands on that
Valk your guide looks like exactly doing nothing to solve my problem :/ besides I'm using ATI Radeon, however the solution might be the same with Control Panel or Catalyst Control Center. However if you're using LCD and TV you can't watch 1280x1024 on your CRT TV.. only HD support will help here, but I'm waiting for SED displays
I don't think so, because MP has no way of knowing at which timestamp the external player stopped playback.
Best way to achieve this would be to use an auto-resume feature in your external player itself. (MPC-HC can do that, I don't know about VLC)

Right, so are there any skins that are higher resolutions? I've had a look through the list and there are MP Display++ skins but no information on resolution.

I can watch the movies just fine.
In past versions of MP, like 2.4x, I could press the More Info button on my remote twice, and on the second press, an option for showing/choosing the subtitles was listed. I'd select the...
