When using Nvidia Purevideo codec I get terrible stutter when watching TV. Want to use PV because HW acceleration. And with OSD (miniepg etc.) up it gets even worse.. The CPU usage is only 10-20% so thats not the problem. When using MPV there's no stutter and the cpu usage is 50-60%.

    Any tips/solution for this..?

ps - This is with a fresh XP Pro SP2 installation, and no other codecs innstalled

Have you tried setting MP priority to high (new setting in MP setup\general)

Also under VMR9 settings does it make a difference using the DX exclusive tab or not.

    Thanx for your reply :)

Don't think I have tried this, will give it a shot.

Think I tried this one, didn't help. I'll give it another try when I come home.

Could this have anything to do with MP running at 1920x1080 resolution? Find that strange since I run DVD's, HD material etc. without problems..

What audio renderer are you using? (This is info that, IMO, should be listed in template). Make sure to use "Default DirectSound Device", as anything else will cause stuttering (personal experience).

Spragleknas, takk for tipset:) I'm usingDefault DirectSound Device (always have..)

Done some more testing and, have found out that when Im in TV fullscreen CPU usage is about 20%, but when a menu is displayed (miniepg, homescreen with small TV window showing, etc.) The CPU usage jumps to 100%...

Paranoid Delusion - Tested both your tips, but didn't help :(

Off to test the prog bigj suggested - Thanx for that :)

Try using dpclat to see if it's a hardware/driver/irq issue:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/useful_tool_dpclat_stuttering_dropped_frames-t14570.html?t=14570&highlight=dpclat

i.e. perhaps you gfx card is conflicted (with other hardware).

Both my gfx card and NIC (PCI wireless) share the same IRQ. The two tuners on my PVR500 also have the same IRQ. When using TV from MP I got latency above 4000 us in dpclat, so there must be a conflict here somewhere. When playing DVD image in MP theres no problems with the latency..

So any suggestions? Change PCI slot for my TV card or NIC?

Have now tried switching PCI slots, didn't help. Using Nvidia Codec WITHOUT HW acceleration works fine (CPU usage about 50-60%) and no problem viewing miniepg etc..

Why do my PC go crazy when using the tuner and some MP graphics at the same time?

    NIC PCI wireless

What happens if you uninstall this, had a problem with a wireless adapter, which i changed to another make and solved my problem of freezing intermitantly.

Thanks for your reply PD :)

Not much I'm afraid, non of the following made a difference.. put the NIC in another slot, uninstall/removing the card completly. Also tried putting TV card in another PCI slot..

I find it strange that it's only a problem when enabling the HW acceleration. Without this the picture still is a bit choppy, but the CPU usage stays under 60%, even with overlay menus.

Are there other codecs I can test that also make use of HW acceleration in my Hauppauge PVR500MCE card?

Cyberlinks PowerDVD codec is HW compatible if you have a copy lying around.

Might also be worthwhile either updating Nvidia driver or reinstalling a previous version to see if it makes any difference.

The 6200A, does it have it's own onboard memory, or is it system shared.
