    Hi,

The architecture of DirectShow is designed with multithreading in mind so assuming the used filters in a specific directshow graph use multiple threads to devide the workload: yes, MP will benefit from multiple cores.

For example: viewing DVB-S TV with an SS2 and MPA/MPV as codec distributes the load evenly across the 2 CPU's in my old dual PIII 1GHz rig.

    Kind regards,
    Michel

The MP exe will see both cores and if the need arrises will utilise both .

I run MP on a dual amd 2000MP and under heavy use the totlal cpu load will go up to >90% for the exe .

Most of the time cpu usage is around 6% but when recording DVB-T and EPG grab DVB-T while watching a recorded file or viewing th AIW in MP the usage can go high

i currently have a problem since i upgraded my A64 3000+ to a Opteron 170 dualcore.. everything in Mediaportal works fine except MyTV, in that it works fine for 2 min, then i loose sound and the framerate eventually drops by half..

This is on my Dvico FusionHDTV Plus and using drivers FusionHDTV 3.50.01... THe software with the package is fine and works great, but in Media portal, it just eventually comes to a crawl..

i put mediaportal in window mode and still no change.. i opened taskmanager and forced the process to use only one processor and started the TV up again.. and it all works fine again...

the processors arn't under much load, only running @ about 18%..

Nothing elsde has been changed on this machine, only the CPU.. anybody know or heard about this problem

I had a problem with analog video playback after going to a Dual Core AMD from
an Athlon 64 single core and I fixed it by installing a patch from AMD called a dual core optimizer. Video playback is great now, what is funny is that HD digital TV played fine but analog would stall after a few minutes and become unwatchable.

I have not experienced that myself, and I don't know of any reason why that might occur (but my knowledge of how TV Server works is not extensive). It is strange that you mention this because there are now four DVB-T channels in the UK that behave in the same way (this is new for the UK). I think that these might be some sort of...
