Hey I've been having lots of trouble in the last SVN:s with MP hanging when handling TV. It happens when starting playback, changing channels, seeking, playing recorded tv. When the show does start playing though I can keep it running "forever" without any crashes. Also pause/play seem to work fine. When MP stops responding I have to kill it using the task manager. I'd say it happens about 30-40% of the times I'm trying playback.

I tried SVN 15959, 16000, 16022 with the same result. I had RC1 up and running before with none of these problems.
Problem exists both on analog and digital tv card, encrypted and unencrypted.

I tried different video and audio decoders, vmr9 exclusive on/off, dvb epg on/off, standard and new TSReader, tourettes modified TSReader.
Also tested in both XP and Vista.

Attached some logs from the latest crash when changing channel. Not sure if MP had time to log any hints before it died.
If anyone got any ideas I'm happy to try it out.
    Thnx

Seems like the hangings is completely fixed with SVN 16036. Only been trying it for about 1h but earlier SVNs crashed after some minutes of use at best.
    Thanks Tourette!

With Vista, if I install a TVEngine and TVPlugIn after Sept 14 I cant change channel:
The first channel I use it's Ok, after if I switch to another MyTV doesn't change channel and I have to switch off and on timeshit to get MyTv working again.
    any advice?

My problem seems to have been fixed by upgrading the MS SQL Server to SP2... Hopefully this isn't a fluke and it will carry on working :).

Certain channels (one's I never watch anyway) do still crash MP...

    I can confirm this bahaviour.

And another think is that i can't find the teletext button in My Tv when I use tvserver client plugin.

I use mediaportal as client in my notebook (xp sp2) and vista on my tv server.

My tv card is TT usb stick with last drivers.

same problem if I use mediaportal sa single seat on vista.

I can also confirm the channel change bugs. Also if you leave a channel on overnight, the computer will have crashed during the night.

Is this being looked at, because it makes the TV-function of MediaPortal almost useless? :(

    All,

I had very similar problems with LiveTV stability. All started with the SVNs from Sept. 15. The SVN from Sept 14th was the last one that worked for me.

    Yesterday, Tourettes mentioned the following:
Please have a look on the requirements of tve3 :)

    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/TV-Engine_0.3/requirements

Basicly the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)" is a new requirement.

I have then installed this package today as well as the latest SVNs and voila, it works great now for me again. :p

I have posted the details here:

    Best regards,

    Thanks Andy,
I have alrady installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) some days ago, so can be it has notthing to do with the channel change problem. It's my supposition...
I think something better for your success can be related to this BugFix:
    MediaPortal TVE3
02/10/2007 [20:19h] gibman added: TSwriter channel change stability improved on client. In some circumstances bad TS packets would get written to the TS file on server.
I don't know because I haven't already tested it but I have some hopes...

    Bye
