Kiaora mm1352000, would this card (S480) be appropriate for NZ freeview, I am not in the HD range so I must use satillite, I am building a HTPC, of which i want to have internal dual DVB-S tuners, ideally with DVB-T option also incase I ever move into a city, PCIe preferrably but I have plenty of PCI slots available on MB as another option. What would your recomendation be?

PS I am currently out of country and cannot log onto net as frequently as usual so sorry for any delayed replies.

    Hi jayjaynz

Yep, the S480 should be perfect for NZ Freeview satellite. I'm not sure where you're buying from, but you may find that the TBS 6980/6981 (available from TradeMe) is cheaper...

It is veeerrrryyyy important! Most of my frame drop issues are gone, even channel change seems to work faster. MP doesn't report any loss of server connection... I'm fascinated.

Just wanted to tell you to check the little power connector on the backside of the S480.
    Hi!
Have you had any more problems with this one since you connected the power connector?

    Hi!

    Hi to you too :)

Since i connected the power connector there is only one problem left which seems to be linked directly to the PRO7-Sat1 mediagroup. As i learned at another place in this forum this group uses different coding algorythms to transfer the tv stream.
I did not understand it completely but it has to do with how a GOP is followed by a FLOP or whatever it may be called.

Hence it is not the hardwares fault that tuning to PRO7, Sat.1 and kabel eins completely crashes the system after a few minutes, it's the driver!

I solved the problem by reinstalling the Technisat card which easily receives the whole bouquet of four problem-channels at once WITHOUT crashing (do you read this TeVii?)
So now i have a triple tuner... Great, don't really need it, german TV isn't that good

    Bye.

    Some feedback on TeVii S470

Hi everybody on the TeVii front!

I am not in a position to talk about the S480, but nevertheless I can talk about the S470 which seems to be similar but with single tuner.
Just to give a positive feedback on S470.
After I followed the recommendations of mm1352000 the card is now working since 4 months without any problem.
Even my second card - a FireDTV - had slithly more problems. That benchmark I think says something about how stable a TeVii card can be.

    Thanks mm1352000

AW: TeVii S480 Dual DVB-S2 HDTV PCIe supported?

    Hello everybody,

I just build up my brand new htpc and now my Tevii S480 PCIe tv-card seems to be a trouble maker:
The tv-card randomly dissappears from the control panel after boot up. Almost every second boot,
the card ist not found by Win7 Ultimate.

I already updated the mainboard drivers and installed the latest Tevii Drivers, but it still does not solve the problem.

Jaws: You wrote something about a power connector that should be used to connect the card, but i cant see one!
Or are you talking about those 4 little Pins on the card itself?

    @everybody:
Are there any other tricks, what to do or how to fix it?

    Thank you very much,
    Robout

Yep, those are for connecting to a floppy drive power connector.
    :)

Here are some pictures. (from Tevii)
Btw. there are some non-shielded versions around (that are not that great..); it's best to have the shielded ones (like in the picture)

As has already been said, yes these four tiny pins are meant to be connected to a floppy drive power connector. What is most stunning to me is the fact that after installing the skystar card and its drivers i first got some blue screens but after removing the skystar again for some unknown reason the tevii now works absolutely flawless until today.
I have no idea whether this is possible but it seems that by installing the skystar drivers some parts of the tevii drivers were replaced by working skystar stuff.
Anybody heard this before? I wouldn't believe it if there wasn't this mpc here working like a charm...

Seems a little strange Jaws...
Skystar HD, or just regular older Skystar?
