The follow up skin for mce [update: 16/1-05] (5 Viewers)

My main focus the coming weeks will be to get everything in shape. I am reworking the homepage... again... right now... and it will hopfully have a more crisp look to it. The overall graphical experience is important, after all, we have all spent alot of money on a sofisticated system that looks nice, I want the skin to match the look of my system... well sort of, I want it to look good at least

I have several tweeking ideas for the skin and I will get them in one by one. When that is done I will continue nagging the kind developers (sorry for beeing a pain... and asking... over and over and over....) for small enhancement features like fading transitions for the hoovers, a real fog effect for the background etc etc. Sooner or later MP will look as good as it is

I wish I had a bunch of coders in my pocket for all the ideas I have (no features, only visual enhancements)... aahh the thought of your own special effect team (well I had alot of very interesting chats with Smirnoff and he is almost his own special fx team , keep it up m8 you rock). Enough rambling, cheers...

Hi Sam,
first of all.. We LOVE your skin Especially my girl says the buddys are cute.
Just want to bring one thing to your attention (where I don't really have a solution for..):
When u don't enable scrolling menus (which I can't, cause I use a touchscreen, and it's hard to click on a scrolling item) u are limited in enabling new items in the menu. U r limited to 9 entries all in all (4+"plugins" on home and 5 on plugins page).
At the moment this is just what I need. Just wanted to let u know...

We have exactly the same proverb in French but , either in Politics or in software management, I can't approve it :
Here, in an open source project, the challenge is to tell what you think; no progress possible otherwhise.

My actual purpose is, (very quietly) to tell that we were badly surprised by the change of the frontal page of the new skin 'Blue two', (the other parts of the skin are quite OK for us, because quite identical with 'mce05', only disliking MSN buddies)

So, my 2 questions are :

-(1)- Why not keep in independent choice, 'Mce05' updated, with it's precedent look ? (no MSN buddies !)
-(2)- Keep in other choice, the new 'Blue two' skin which seems also well appreciated in this forum

More skin choices you will have, more the M-P front-end will be popular

Unfortunatly I have not been able to follow any discussions on the french MP forum since my french is very limited. But let me explain, the difference in between the two skins (MCE05 and BlueTwo) is minimal since the only thing that really differs are the icons. My intention is to make all the other icons available for download so that the dudes can be replaced if you like the other better. That would not be a big deal since all the icons are made anyway. The rest, the structure, will stay the same.

I do agree, but maybe you could be a bit more political about the Blue Two skin, which I think has had a lot of work put into it and looks really nice. After all to have more skins we also need to give artists some support.

I also think it would be nice for MediaPortal to have its own look and feel distinct from MCE. Hopefully this project aspires to much greater things
