Thumbnailer - creates automaticly thumbnails from videos and tv recordings (1 Viewer)

Write permisions are ok.

The playtime of the recording 'Der Dieb von Bagdad' is only 2 minutes (120 sec) and I set the time for 'take thumbnail at (recordings)' to 200 sec.
I think that was the reason of the Thumbnailer-error obove.

Now I have deletet the file.

Hi I have thumbnails for my home videos being created ok... but they do not showup in mediaportal (using mediastream theme) it just shows a no thumbnail thumbnail. Is there anything I am missing or should I post in the theme forum?

I also updated to latest version running MP 1.0.1 and no thumbs.
The plugin starts and then nothing, I'll attach logs soon.

I used to have this running, checked file permissions which are ok, although they are on a network share. I also set thumbnailer not to overwrite any files if that's important somehow

It should be creating thumbs because I copied a couple new movies in there.

The old plugin link micha02 posted also is still working for me. Although I did find that the old version had some stuff distorted in the thumbs for some videos. I re-encoded those (virtualdub showed errors) and deleted the corresponding jpegs and run MP again, then it worked.
It could be the new version didn't do anything because of that? It didn't even try according to logs.

It's a patch not a plugin though. Maybe this will help people who have problems with this plugin.

For tv recordings... yes, check this path:
C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbs\tv\Recorded

Mhm - the included mtn.exe puts the images in the same folder as the video... i liked that cause i share my video folder so every client can get the image from the server without sharing the thumbs folder.

But perhaps i should simply share the thumbs folder - will think about that.

Hi Mophat,

I tried your plugin in MP 1.0.2 today and couldn't get it to work I pointed it to some AVI files in a folder which has worked before, when I was using 1.0.1 (I'd just added some more files to it) and no go. Unfortunately I can't give you any log files at the moment because the wife is watching TV

Also I thought I'd let you know that I've come across a way to create thumbnails for MPG files recorded on digital cameras (I could never get your plugin to do this). Maybe you could check the method out and get this feature to work in your plugin? I would much rather all thumbnailing was handled by your plugin (I'm sure a lot of others would too!) Output of Thumbs

I am recording NZ h.264 TV. The thumbs are being made well with no obvious issues escpet for the fact that half the thumbs are "grey" or look like mist - this must be "between"frames - sorry don't havethe techinical knowledge. Any ideas? Or is there a way of ensuring that the resultant thumb is a "real" picture? See atached thumbs

Hi togehter,

I already used the plug In for some time and it works as it should. After reinstallation I installed the plug again. Unfortunately I don't get any results now. No thumbnails are created. If I remember right, thumnails will be created during start of MP and it could take a time generating the thumbs. In my case nothing happens and MP starts as qucik as it starts normally. In the meantime I have a lot of new videos (avi, wmv, mod ...) and there must be some new thumbnails as well. The plugin files are a the right location. I use the default settings. I rebooted the System, nothing happens. What can I do?

Is there are logging?

Edit: I found out, that the problem occurs only with the new version posted here. The old version which is available works?!

The old plu creates thumbs but the are not displayed in MP? What's to do here? The old thumbs are shown?!
