Timeshifting crashes TSWRITER.ax (1 Viewer)

Spent some time triyng to get to the bottom of this with further testing and the only time that the TSwriter.ax isn't crashing when timeshifting is when no video is present ie timeshifting DVB-T radio.

Tvserver and local client .

I even tried different skins to see if this invoked a crash

A switch to any UK DVB-T Tv channel and tswriter.ax crashes randomly with respect to time.

This is irrespective of 'EPG idle garb' on/off, 'timeshift EPG grab' on/off and OS Vista/Xp/w2k.

The UK DVB-t stream doesn't use teletext as far as I know.

I must sress that recording and/or EPG grab cause NO problems or errors it is only TIMESHIFTING that has the problem .

I'm furhter testing RADIO Timeshifting as this also seeems to be problem free; is having no vidoe content a link to the underlying problem?

Seems like your tsreader.ax is out of date.
try and grab latest and regsvr32' it.

Each time u get one of those interface related errors, its most likely b/c of one of the components not being updated correctly.

I will double check this.

But why would an old tsreader cause constant crashes in tswriter.

Also as I use the latest builds why aren't the latest .ax files being installed .

Curious as this problem affects every system VISTA, XP and W2k.

It shouldn't.

All I say is that the tsreader interface error that u are seeing in mp.log is a product of MP querying an interface in tsreader that is not present or has been changed.

So either MP or TSreader is out of synch with one another.

Nothing to do with tswriter crashes.

Anyway a complete clean sweep of systems for any rogue TSwriter, Tsreader and DVBSub2 files has been done (regsvr32 /u)

Clean instal of SVN 16524.

Testing commences.

I can see that during timeshifting this is the only time both TSwriter and TSreader act on the same file so an incompatabilty between these could cause the TSwriter crashes I'm seeing.

Highly unlikely that the TsReader could crash the TsWriter, even when they are writing and reading the same file simultaneous. Most likely the DVB stream that you are getting is triggering some bug in TsWriter.

Following error is definately coming from the fact that TsReader.ax (installed by TVClient setup) and MP version aren't the same.

Well the bug is still there with the test systems see latest clean log.

Test with Tsreader enabled. SVN 16524 server and SVN 16525 MP

Tswriter ... 1/11/2007

Tsreader.. both 29/10/2007, same size in MP and Server folders.

DVBSub2 ... 9/10/2007

Test with Tsreader disabled is still ongoing as no crash in TSwriter as of yet.

Tswriter just crashed while timeshifting with tsreader disabled, took longer but still crashed .

Logs attached.

All the channels chosen to timeshift do record with NO problems, Record and timeshift EPG grab with NO problems .
