Have scraped my Version i was working on and started again will post shortly if any body wants to test .
have only done music now playing which is 85% finished , i added now playing cover and EQ panel and song details.
its written in the MediaPortal.exe that just made i easier for focus issues and stability, Have added a simple animation matrix for the touch screen for visual pleasure . Next step is Virtual keyboard and short cut panel and to build Home screen with Navigation Panel . feel free to post suggestions to add.

make sure your touch screen is set to secondary display and res of 1280 x 720

remember this is not finished and you wont see much till you play a song, but this has become a priority for me and hope to have finished in the next few week, so test and give input now before i finish :)

remember to back up your Mediaportal.exe first :)

As mentioned in my previous post I would be happy to help testing. What version of MP is this last version written in? I am using 1.1. Beta Latest SVN, but if it is written in earlier version I guess it would not work...?

As I also mentioned in relation to the priorities, I guess I think the most important feature should be the ability to navigate menus and start music or radio without the need to turn on the TV/main monitor. When that works various things to make it look better could be looked at, but to me at least the base functionality of being able to navigate menus is top priority. Would love to help, so if there is anything I could do please let me know.

Hoping to be done by 12/02/10 , my plan is to be able to play music / radio without tv on , have a keyboard, virtual remote screen and optional navigation panel(as my case has Nav buttons but others do not) and the screen to go black for fullscreen video except small REC logo + video details when not in full screen and a system info screen HDD info, network, tv schedule plus any suggestion from you guys .

please give me feedback if it works properly on YOUR Mediaportal.

built on mediaportal beta latest svn :)

This looks fantastic! Keep up the great work.

Just tested on a small eGalaxy touchscreen and it seems rock solid, does not put any strain on my cpu and the music part that you have created looks great. One more thing - it works without having to restart MP on resume from standby - something I never managed to get the original touchscreen plugin to do.

If you could get the menu navigation to work so that it was possible to start music/radio without main screen, just using navigation buttons on the case/on a remote this would be fantastic.

Bugs (only minor): Starting MP with full screen splash screen enabled the status text is missing. (As mentioned - only minor bug).

As to your own suggestions: When playing full screen video I would suggest that the screen does not go black, but instead shows the video/tv-program playing and a timeline. Just in a discrete way so as to not draw to much attention.
A system info screen is a great idea, as I often wonder what the stress on the system is, so it could be nice with a brief overview, but this is in my humble opinion a nice to have and not a need to have.

A final nice to have - and here I really mean nice to have - would be the choice to have some sort of configurable slideshow with pictures of your own choice to run over the screen when the htpc is idle.

Please let me know if I can assist in any way besides testing, e.g. finding/creating icons, buttons or anything else.

im not sure why it wont start on your machine

Is your touchscreen set to secondary display with correct resolution (1280 x 720)?

are you using Mediaportal beta with latest SVN?

mtjoernelund , The splashscreen text was my fault I am replacing with progress bar(just somting i'd like more than text)
I also looked at streaming the Now playing video to the touchscreen but it uses a bit more cpu than i would like , looking at video thumnails, channel logo , dvd cover and info labels.

I don't think this matters. First time I started your version I had forgotten to change the reselution of the touchscreen. This only lead to some of the graphic being rendered outside the visible screen area.

Splash screen with progress bar - thumbs up from here, just wanted to let you know in case it was a bug.

If streaming now playing eats up cpu, then don't do it. Your own suggestion of using channel logo, dvd-cover etc, sounds just as fine (if not maybe even better) to me.

The screen resolution will be selectable by the end(hopefully :))

Im not really a coder but learning as i go ,so im happy to hear that it works well on another system.
The EQ alone took me a week but happy with the effect.

The touchscreen is built on WinForm , I just wanted to keep it as simple and clean as possible, I looked a Directx but seemed a bit overkill for a small touchscreen. will post next test vesion later today , It has Navagation Panel, Labels to tell you where you are, MediaControl buttons and the ability to add selected item to playlist etc.

after base work is done will try add Support for skinning and a simple config(font, resolution, colours etc.)

also adding press and hold button for touchscreen lock(my 3 y.o loves to touch the screen and mess up my playlist).
