trying to add your own info and pics without using thetvdb with tvseries help (1 Viewer)

Well, the hard way to do this could be this:

1. Get SQLite Database Browser from SQLite Database Browser | Download SQLite Database Browser software for free at SourceForge.net
2. Open MP-TV Series Configuration, click Details tab. There right click on the serie (or episode) you will change manually and choose "Ignore on Scan".
3. Close MediaPortal and go to "C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\database". The folder is hidden, so you need tell Windows to show it. Eg:
   For XP:
   Windows XP: Show Hidden Program or System Files
   For Vista/Windows 7:
   Show hidden files
4. Make a copy of TVSeriesDatabase4.db3 for backup if everything goes wrong. Right click on the file -> Choose Copy -> Right click on the folder and choose Paste.
5. Start "SQLite Database Browser 2.0 b1.exe" (or what ever your version is called)
6. In the menu choose File - Open Database
7. Browse to "C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\database\TVSeriesDatabase4.db3"
8. Click on the "Browse Data" tab
9. In the table online_series you have your series (here I added banner picture & description) and in the table local_episodes you have the episodes (here I changed the LocalEpisodeName).
10. Put your pictures in C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbs\MPTVSeriesBanners (I made a copy from another serie and changed the pictures) and write the picture names in the DB
    
    

Will try this and see if it works

It did not work completely, but it looks a bit better in all cases. Got a banner & description in the list of series and could change the episode names as they appear in the episode list.

But it is very time-consuming, would be better if it were possible to change directly in the GUI.

Well, for description and stuff you can just enter them in the config under your library. That stuff should stick. Does it not?

Images, well, I was against this in the past, as I felt this way people had to share their work, rather than just keep it to themselves (there were lots of posts of people telling us they created stuff but never even thought about uploading it). Maybe I'm doing it wrong. It sticks (as it stays there in the config), but the text don't show when I start MediaPortal > My TV-series. Only way I found was hacking the db.

I'm sure no one wants my stuff for my own made TV-series and don't want pics for my family "TV-series" (vacations etc.) in Online TV Database (and guess nobody else wants them there)

I would like to know how to do this as well. I think most people understand the absolute best way is to add them to theTVDB.com but as there are restrictions there that do not allow us to do that, it would seem that there is some way to do this easier than through a DBE. Any tips? For me I am trying to get it to work with my NFL, MLB and NBA games as well a lot of DVD specials, and some direct to DVD History/Smithsonian/Discovery Channel stuff that theTVDB says they DO NOT WANT.

It should def. stick when u change something from the config. So please describe what you are doing and attach logs. What fields are you editing. What skin are you using. Etc.

Since you are hacking the DB, check if your edits from the config are put into x__USEREDIT field.

First, Im not flaming, I really like My TVSeries

Sorry, descriptions ("Overview") do work (never tried to change them before), it was "Episode Name" i meant. With a episode name you have a "first description" about what the file is about. "Overview" gives thereafter more info. This "Episode name" is first priority, otherwise its a long list looking like this (and then you need to point to everyone to see the description, if you have any):

An example is my collection of THX & DTS demos. With a list like this:
0: Egypt,DolbyDigital
0: Gladiator,DTS
0: Cow,THX
0: T2,THX
0: StarWarsPodRace,THX

Then I don't need an overview, the episode name says it all. I have about 40 demos, it would be nice to be able to make own "Seasons" of these. Like season 1 = THX, season2 = DTS and so on. Then do some fancy pictures. Same for family series. Episode names (raffes birthday), Seasons (year) and add pictures to round it up.

So for me: Change episode name, season and add pictures = I'm even more happy

I believe this will satisfy your requirement:

1. Create proper filenames e.g.

Blah Da Show s01e01 Blah 1.mkv
Blah Da Show s01e02 Blah 2.mkv
Blah Da Show s01e03 Blah 3.mkv

2. Start Configuration->TVseries->Import Wizard

3. Start Wizard, and select Skip when no match is found.

4. Finish Import and go to Details tab.

5. Enter Series and Episode info (This will create USEREDIT fields in database)

6. Right Click on series and select 'Ignore on Scan' so we dont prompt to match series everytime.

7. Enter GUI and select series, then play!

We can take a look at adding manual artwork, to save you editing db directly...but you could edit the fields if you know what your doing.

It worked for me. I could add missing thumbs and descriptions.
