There are two reasons for raising "No signal":
1) Lost of the tuner because of a bad signal
2) VMR9 renderer dropping down to 0 FPS

Having the same problem here, tried suggested as above, but did not help.
Different BDA drivers, tried wmp10+DVB patches, 5 CVS's from Feb till now. All without success.

In my case both happen, the obvious because of a -real- low signal, signal strenght =90-100 but signal quality is below 60 then. So just a reception problem I would think.

But the second with VMR9 rendering dropping, happends as well.

This only happends when changing channels. Disabling EPG grab, tends to get it less, but its still there. It looks like Media Portal wants to do too much in minimal of time.
Seeing the logs it does the following in 1 or 2 seconds after changing a channel:
-Switch channel
-Clear teletext cache
-Tune in
-Get the PMT (Program Map Table)
-Set audio abd video
-Grab teletext
-Show zap OSD (epg now/next + TV logo) and picture
-Grab EPG.

When I enable timeshifting, the error does not occure. It takes however till 10secs to build the picture. Its like its buffering the picture and shows it delayed for a few seconds so there is enough time to build the picture.

Having this few seconds buffer also seems to help against my low reception problem. If I fast forward to get "live" TV it could stutter once in awhile because of low reception. When I show TV delayed it gives the recorder time to buffer the data before its shown, in case of a signal drop.

Seems the last post on this was awhile ago.

I was recently using a nova-t with RC2 and had no problems very stable.

At the weekend I upgraded to RC3 and also removed the nova-t and replaced it with a Divco Dual tuner.

Initially I could only get MP to recognise the second Tuner "dual 2" and used MP for a day or so as I was bored by that point, but it was working 100% no problems.

Then on the Sunday I fiddled a little more and got MP to recognise the first tuner "dual 1", so I did some testing, when one card was busy the other wouldn't tune and then both would stop responding, restarting MP and neither card would tune in, unless I rebooted the machine, I tried pretty muh everything but this was consistant behavior.

Finally getting bored again I removed the second card "Dual 2" and, not changing anything else, MP has been working since with no problems!!

In summary my machine works fine with a single card (nova-t or Dvico \ Dual1 or 2) but suffers from this no singal problem which requires a reboot when I add a second card.

I'm getting this problem all the time with my NOVA-T- "No signal" pops up and MP hangs so I have to restart :-/

I'm using RC0.3, have updated to latest SVN but that hasn't helped.

It does seem to be related to DVB EPG Grabbing (see log below) and my signal may be a wee bit weak (I sometimes have trouble with the bedroom freeview box but it's mostly OK) - but I shouldn't have to restart the computer!

Is there anyone else still experiencing this problem?

Hi Shreddies,

Whilst I haven't upgraded to the lastest SVN yet I'm still having the problem, although I know its certian channels that cause it so I just stay away from them.

The reason for my post is that I noticed mine fails at the same point as yours i.e. just after epg log entries, but I have all dvb-epg grabbing turned off and use webepg so I dismissed it as the problem.

Also I reviewed my channels and found that some of them were set slightly out i.e. in previous installs BBC1 tuned into 810,000mhz and on the RC3 install it detects it as 810,137 (or something) so I correct that in the xml file. Might be worth checking.

Thanks robomonkey,

I'll have a shot tonight at manually adjusting the channels, even if that reduces the chance of MP crashing so very often it would help.

I've tried to disable DVB-EPG grabbing myself, but it doesn't switch off - when I untick the box it just greys out and stays ticked. If I then quit and reopen configure the box is un-greyed but still ticked. I also tried choosing "none" for the DVB-EPG languages, but from the logs it still seems to try and get the EPG and still crashes.

Is there a bug for this problem in Mantis? Would a developer like me to do further testing to try and nail why this is happening?
