I'm not photoshop whizz so if anyone wants to edit any logos I added let me know I can post links to original artwork if needed.

Me neither, I learnt most of it from just messing around untill it looked the way I wanted it!

Anyway I've submitted the file to the repository we'll just have to wait and see now.

Big thanks again to wonkyd and jsimo01 for all the additions. Some don't match the style convention (eg the Disney ones overflow the bottom left corner) but I put them in anyway, some I redrew, some I had drawn but not posted yet.

That's absolutely fine with me, I could never decide if Icon Sets should be in the Plugins download section or not.

Sure, I just figured it would be more prominent in that location. I'm going to start looking in to the .mpi plugin installer method shortly too.

are you looking at making a proper plugin?

i was thinking today it would probably be "reasonably" simple to make a small app to download the newer logos automatically. It would then make sense to store the logos somewhere, in a permanent directory on the web, and then any changes could be reflected in that directory so it always holds the most up to date versions.

i've never looked into making plugins, but if this could be done as an actual plugin then it would be great!

To my way of thinking a Process Plugin that queries a hosted database and then automatically downloads the updated files from a hosted location is the way forward for MediaPortal. And not just for Icon Sets, Skins, Plugins, Transponder Setting, etc. as well, even eventually MediaPortal itself.

I had considered punting the idea a while back, but all the Devs have been v busy in the run up to MP 1.0 so I never pushed it.

One of the main complaints new users have is the difficulty in configuring and maintaining MP, auto updates would certainly help that. Personally I maintain 6 MP Servers and 24 MP Clients and frankly it is a PITA.

If you can find someone to code a test plugin I am happy to maintain the hosting (I own a number of Tier 1 CoLo Servers).

i should probably be able to write something in VB as a standalone app, but i'm not clear on how to make a process plugin for MP and i've never used C# before.

i guess if there were full coding for a sample of a process plugin, i might be able to pick it up.

we'd need to also figure out how the process would work out which logos were updated. Or, the process could just run at certain intervals and just download all the logos that were available overwriting the logos already on the PC. I think this would be a good start, and should make it simple to make.

Played around with MPI last night, seems quite straight forward to get it working for TV Thumbs. I'll post it later if I get time.

Only thing it won't take care is whether your channel names are slightly different to the ones in the pack. (I normally have to adjust a couple)
