    Hi,

I have tried this plugin, and it works well.

I guess there are always going to be some negatives, so here they are in the interest of being constructive.

The configuration does not really fit within the SetupTV.exe window. It feels wrong to need to scroll so far.

There is a choice for scheduling episodes vs movies. I guess whether something is flagged as an episode or a movie depends on how your EPG info is presented, so I am worried that if I select one rather than the other I will miss something I want.

To me, it feels like the hard work has been done, but maybe a bit more time needs to be spent on simplification/usability. I would imagine that the most common usage of this is to schedule a recording of a program with a specific word in the title or description.

For me, rather than having a large table, it would be better to have a 'New item' button, which opens an editing window. Then you could enter the keywords and choose 'any word' or 'all words'. You could choose 'record first found' or 'record every' (on channel). I guess there are probably more filters to apply, but for my money, less can be more. I don't want to have to make a lot of decisions, but I want to select a couple of keywords for a program and know that I will be notified the next time this is on.

But please bear in mind that this feedback is coming from the basic view that this is a great plugin. We've really needed this!

    Best wishes,

    Mark

    Hi elliottmc,
    really appreciate your feedback.
The tvserver plugin setup for TvWishes is not very user friendly. That´s why i started the MediaPortal plugin. The Tvserver plugin will be continued to be supported, but just for testing and checking the correct setup of the plugin.
From your posting i am not sure if you have tried the new MP plugin already? Here, the default configuration does list only the most important items and the users can specify in the MediaPortal configuration their favourite filter settings.
The difference between episode and movie is only that episodes will be recorded in a separate folder. This needs to be made easier in the future. Also the other wordings like you mentioned can be improved.
I hope to get some more help from users like you how to make it more user friendly. In some cases i think just a better translation would help a lot. I hope to get some more input like yours.
    Greetings, huha

I actually tried it just after I posted, and I agree that this is the way forward.

So whichever I select it will still record the same programs - the only difference is how/where it saves/names them?

Okay, personally I would get rid of the pre/post record times from the plugin. Just use the defaults. Once a schedule is set, it can be edited in the usual way, so this feels like duplication of core functionality.

Finally, where is the log saved? I tried to do an instant scan from the email tab (probably not the best location for it IMO) and I got a parse error.

    elliottmc,
yes the only difference between episode and movie is where it saves the recording. Should be described in the manual.

there are two log files now, one from tv server one from mediaPortal
In case of problems please enable the setting "Verbose Debug" and post your TV server log file e.g.
    C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\log\tv.log
    and
    C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\log\MediaPortal.log

Please post, but I will be out now for about 3 weeks. If you have a parse error it should be tv.log

    Hi,

    I am posting my error.log.

This evening I set a TV wish list entry for 'batman', set to only email. However, a batman film actuallly started recording this evening and I noticed one was scheduled for next week.

I wonder if this is a bug or if I screwed up.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

I don't agree with you, because even live shows have sometimes a long overtime which are not listed in epg data. So with standard post record setting, the end of the show is missing. A great benefit of this plugin is even that it works in background and schedule your favorit broadcasts. So i don't want to check my timers every day, if there is a post record time which have to be expanded.

So in that case surely you should set your general post-record time to catch this? Allowing you to set this on a per-schedule basis seems over complicated to me. Just my opinion of course.

I think that isn't a good idea. You can compare it with an advanced schedule, maybe "Record every time on this channel". There you can set a different post recording time for this schedule and then every show from this schedule will record with this post recording time and not with standard setting.
