So... I spent the whole weekend investigating this... And in my case I suspect the reason is an old plugin that is called MyRefresh or it is one of the TV-cleanup/management related plugins

I don't have my whole activity log at hand, saved it on my htpc, but I can give an approximative overview

  • Created a new partition using HiRen's Bootdisk
  • Made a new clean Vista install with all updates
  • Installed vcdredist package as stated in Wiki
  • Installed MP 0.2.3 RC3 without configuring
  • Installed SVN from 28-10-07
  • Installed and configured SQLEXPRESS as described in Wiki
  • Installed and configured SQL management
  • Deactivated all plugins I deemed non-critical for my tests

Some tests at this point showed that my recordings ended correctly. I then went on with 'mimicking' my main setup by adding for instance the TV Series plugin. In the end, recordings still worked and I decided to do Directory synchronisations to see where the differences were...

  • I copied over most files from my new install to my main install, thus de facto installing the latest SVN versions on my main install
  • I removed the only plugin file that my main install had more than my test install, the MyRefresh.dll which has now become one of my suspects
  • I did a file compare between both MediaPortal.xml config files, editing out many things which I did not find in the test install
  • I deactivated most TV-related plugins like those for removing TV recordings etc... just like in my test install

Yesterday evening, all my test recordings on my main install worked perfectly, though I missed one recording due to DST time change being applied twice (once by each Vista install  )

Right now, I am happy it works and I am not inclined to go test any further if it is the MyRefresh.dll or one of the TV plugins or the new SVN version or even something else. If it ain't broken don't fix it! And since I am having some relatives of the GF over for the week, I want my system to shine :p

End of a long story I hope !

I got this problem now and then with v1.0rc1, having upgraded to v1.0rc2 I now seem to get it even more. I just cleared 90gb by delting 4 recordings that should have taken up about 5gb. Are other people still getting this. I have a dedicated MP machine with quadcore cpu + 4gb ram etc. It's never turned off or hibernated

This happens to me on RC3 and RC4 intermittently (and also RC1 if I recall correctly). Its a rare occurrence, maybe 10% of recordings..

Most of the time the recordings follow the EPG schedule, other times the Recording is 16GB+ with over 8 hours+ of video. I had a look at the XML file, it shows the correct start and end time.

I pad the recording by 10 minutes on both ends and record in the original TS format.

I dont know what is causing it, I dont have any plugins installed and I'm using Single Seat. It happened on my Nebula Tuner, and now with my Nova-TD dual tuner. It also happened in XP SP2 as well as SP3.

It seems to happen when the recording clocks over to the next day after midnight, but it doesn't seem consistent.

Here's an example: (7hours / 16GB recording of David Letterman on channel Ten Sydney, should really be about 2GB)

Similar problem here, started intermittently in the last few weeks one out of say six would not stop, but on the latest occasion, all 3 of 4 recordings set on the same day failed to stop.
