So... I spent the whole weekend investigating this... And in my case I suspect the reason is an old plugin that is called MyRefresh or it is one of the TV-cleanup/management related plugins
I don't have my whole activity log at hand, saved it on my htpc, but I can give an approximative overview
Some tests at this point showed that my recordings ended correctly. I then went on with 'mimicking' my main setup by adding for instance the TV Series plugin. In the end, recordings still worked and I decided to do Directory synchronisations to see where the differences were...
Yesterday evening, all my test recordings on my main install worked perfectly, though I missed one recording due to DST time change being applied twice (once by each Vista install
)
Right now, I am happy it works and I am not inclined to go test any further if it is the MyRefresh.dll or one of the TV plugins or the new SVN version or even something else. If it ain't broken don't fix it! And since I am having some relatives of the GF over for the week, I want my system to shine
End of a long story I hope !
I don't have my whole activity log at hand, saved it on my htpc, but I can give an approximative overview
- Created a new partition using HiRen's Bootdisk
- Made a new clean Vista install with all updates
- Installed vcdredist package as stated in Wiki
- Installed MP 0.2.3 RC3 without configuring
- Installed SVN from 28-10-07
- Installed and configured SQLEXPRESS as described in Wiki
- Installed and configured SQL management
- Deactivated all plugins I deemed non-critical for my tests

- I copied over most files from my new install to my main install, thus de facto installing the latest SVN versions on my main install
- I removed the only plugin file that my main install had more than my test install, the MyRefresh.dll which has now become one of my suspects
- I did a file compare between both MediaPortal.xml config files, editing out many things which I did not find in the test install
- I deactivated most TV-related plugins like those for removing TV recordings etc... just like in my test install
