Can anyone help with this?

There definitely appears to be a bug in the TVserver powerscheduler. Is the guy who developed the powerscheduler still around?

Is there anyone out there who successfully uses powerscheduler within tvserver to start AND STOP recordings from suspend/hibernate? I can't leave my PC on 24-7.

Otherwise, I'll have to go back to standard mediaportal and try agian in a few months.. thanks for everyone's comments though.

Ok, thanks, I wonder if it's something to do with my system; it's not set to shut down or anything outside of powerscheduler.

After about an hour (as the above logs show), somethings causes my PC to go to semi-sleep; I get no more powerscheduler logs after this but tvserver just keeps on recording for hours and hours...

Well yes I do a reboot once per night for backup purposes (and for "cleaning" of the system, hey it still Windows ;))
I wake it up by a scheduled task to copy files from my server to my htpc (backup) then as a last point I do a reboot of the htpc - then Powerscheduler suspend it automatically after reboot.

And my recordings has never been longer than that I have set them to be.

Another 6 hour recording!

I give up!

Will go back to mediaportal.. I don't think tvserver is quite ready yet.

Not sure if this issue is the same than what I reported in https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/mp_hangs_vista_while_playing_recording-t29676.html?t=29676&highlight=vista+recording

Some specs:
TV-Server Version: tvengine3-10-15-2007--01-22h--Rev16228
MediaPortal Version: MediaPortal-svn--10-15-2007--14-22-Rev16236

As I am not moving away from TV Server over this, I am willing to test whatever you want.

Two days ago I had a recoridng that did not end. Very often I notice something is wrong because the GUI freezes. It appears the GUI freezes whenever something goes wrong with the TV server...

I will do some serious upgrading on my HTPC, like a HFX case and a FloppyDTV-C card in the next weeks. But if you want to investigate the issue, I'm your man :)

Thanks for your post. I hope the problem can be fixed.

I'm certain it's a tvserver powerscheduler issue (see my tv.logs above); tvserver seems to go to sleep after an hour or so and yet recordings go on, and on, and on!

I think tvserver works fine in 24/7 mode.

I'm using mediaportal now (latest release) and it works great, powerscheduler seems to work perfectly and recordings start and stop when they should.

I am myself not using powerschedudling. I switch on my computer early in the evening and switch if off when going to bed.

This is one of the reasons why I suspect my issue is different.... though maybe related.

So, I decided to make a complete clean install to make sure I was not causing the problems with some old stuff lying around at the wrong place.

Removed all MP directories, including those in the ProgramData directories.

  • MediaPortal 0.2.3.RC3
  • MediaPortal SVN-Snapshot: 10-19-2007 01-02h - Revision:16281
  • TVEngine3 Snapshot: 10-19-2007 01-21h Revision 16281

My first test recording went well, I left some old recording to play while it took place.
Then I decided to be bold and started a recording from a show that had already started...
Interesting thing in the log (I can still upload it completely):

I sure hope one of the devs is still monitoring this thread :p

Yesterday evening I had a total lockup again of the GUI. At the exact moment a test-recording ended. I found some interesting-looking errors thrown in error.bak and mediaportal.bak - the error-logs from just before restarting the GUI (girlfriend wanted to finish watching a show).

If you need more logs, I still have them all copied to a safe place.
