and-81,

Where can I find the schema file which describes the external STB config files?

Thanks

Can't get blasting working for TS3 under Vista

    Hi All

Firslty thanksto Aaron for his great work here :) Great to see a fellow Aussie doing cool things :)

No here goes with the question - does anyone know if this works under Vista 32 bit?

    I tried the following:

Attempt 1: I installed the plugin with the bundled driver. After installation and reboot I go into the plugin configuration on the "IR Commands" tab and click new - I give the command a name but it immediately comes back with status = failed to learn ir.

Attempt 2: I tried installing the vista version of the MCE replacement driver and then seperately installing the TV Server Blaster plugin - this showed some improvement - I can now 'learn' under the "IR Commands" tab - but I can't seem to blast.

I click on the "Test" button but the STB doesn't detech anything - but if I look in the TV log I see:

    31/07/2007 11:10:55 PM 1 TV3MceBlaster: Blast successful

So question number 1; Should this work?

(I've actually tried two different MCE transcievers to try and eliminate hardware.)

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Is there more info I can provide??

I'd really apprecate any input before my wife kills me for breaking Foxtel :|

    Thanks :)

Forgot to mention - I'm running Vista Ultimate 32 bit and TV Server 15338 - is there anything else I can provide?

Could be a couple of things...

It could be that you need to play with the blaster speed setting. Which effects the carrier frequency of the IR signal.

It could be that you need to try re-teaching the IR commands (maybe they didn't get learned correctly). Try darkening the room for this as some lighting can interfere with the learning process.

You will need to use the Vista 32-bit replacement driver, which is what you're doing. So try the above ideas and if it still doesn't work then you may have to wait for the next release of the plugin, which will hopefully be about a week away.

    Cheers,

PS. I've mentioned this a few times now, but I'll say it again, the next version of the plugin will be a lot better in this area.

Hi Aaron - thanks for the help - turned out the issues was the learning so when I used the pre-configured Foxtel codes it worked like a dream.

    WOOHOO!

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your efforts (and you taking the time to post).

    Hi Aaron

I have been using your MCE replacement in 0.2.2.0 for months now with no problems at all.

Over the last couple of days I have switched over to TV3 server with MP 0.2.3.0, latest SVN etc etc.

I have downloaded your TV3 blaster plugin and this blasts fine (its nice to see that the scheduled recording bug is squished on TV3!)

MY PROBLEM:- Is that my MCE remote no longer works within MP GUI on the server machine.

The only way I can get it to work is by activiting both plug-ins at the same time, however as you have mentioned, this causes blasting problems and I have to disable the non-server plugin again.

I have tried everthing - unistalling/reinstalling IR drivers and plugins, but cannot get both blasting & and MCE remote to work at the same time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Cheers
    Darren

p.s Just wanted to say a big thank you for the plug-ins. The macro feature is superb, which allows us virgin media customers to get past the toggle-bit problem on the Samsung 2100c boxes

I was wondering how this is coming along.

Sorry mate, I haven't had a chance to do much with it yet. Hopefully this week I will be able to sort it out for you.

Also, to answer the question about schema's ... there are no schema files, I'm sure if you look at a couple of the xml files you'll figure out how they work.

I'll post back here when I have something for you to try.

    Cheers,

    No worries! Just checking in.

As for the xml, I did browse the availble xml files and they are self explanatory. I was just curious if there were any optional elements or attributes available which may not have been used in any of the files. A schema would reveal that.

I'm curious--are you validating the xml before parsing it? Are you able to do that without a schema? I haven't done a whole lot with xml, so I'm still learning.

    Thanks

I'm not doing any validation at all really.

Have a look in the source code if you want to see what's going on. You'll be bored by it though :) There's no magic there.

    Cheers,
