I'm using latest cvs for both player and server MP. I'm trying your Tv3 plugin but i can't get it to work. when i click "learn" in the tv3 plugin, i immediately get the "failed to learn ir" message. I also tried the test program with some setups, but i don't see the ir blaster flashing.

What's wrong?

I haven't updated this plugin in some time, it's quite possible that it needs to be recompiled against a newer version of the TV Server sources.

Can you supply some log files and system specs?

Also, what type of IR device do you have, is it a genuine microsoft or just mce "compatible" ?

And, have you got any other software running on the same pc that uses the remote?

    Cheers,

The remote is the Microsoft one... with two IR blast port (using only one atm)

There is no other software that is using the IR (tried to configure the tv3 plugin with both IR Server launched and not launched

The pc is a amd 3000, , 2gb of ram, 250gb sata hd, an hauppauge pvr150-mce and winxp sp2.

i don' t have the logs atm because i'm in office right now... btw... what log you need? tv server one?

    --edit---
I just remembered that i saw a ServerBlaster plugin in TV3... dunno how it works, and if it can be considered "another IR program running"

anyway, can you compile a newer version of the TV3 plugin so i can test it?
    thanks

    Aaron,

It's been a while since I've checked in on this thread. I see that you've been developing the IR Server Suite. If you recall, the problem I was having with MCE Blaster, is that my DirecTV receiver expects a header followed by the literal channel encoded in two bytes, followed by a 0x0 footer, over a serial cable. The MCE Blaster plugin seemed to want to send each channel digit individually.

Is this something that is supported in IR Server Suite? Should I check it out? I've kind of put this project on hold until I can find a way to change channels on my sat receiver.

    Thanks
    Zach

    Oh yes, I do remember...

As it currently stands, what you've described is not possible. But I'll tell you what I'll do. I'll make some changes to the parameters you can put in the serial command, so you can translate the channel number into the required format.

I've focused so much on the MCE IR device I haven't made any substantial changes to the Serial command stuff for a long time.

I'll work on this during the week and get back to you as soon as I can.

    Cheers,

From what i've understood, Ir Server + TV3 plugin are a replacemente for the ServerBlaster already included in the TV Server installation.

Do i have to remove the ServerBlaster plugin? I tried to use it before trying Ir Server, but i dind't find any way to configure it beyond the few parameters in the Tv Server configuration... no way to test the blaster nor to have it learn the remote ir commands. I've also searched the forum but i didn't find anything about that.
So i found IR server. But still, docs are missing many things.

Paglioni: Are you using the TV3 Blaster Plugin that is part of the IR Server Suite, or have you downloaded the separate TV3 Mce Blaster Plugin that this thread refers to?

    The separate one.

it seems that, after some fiddling, the test of the blaster in the tv server config panel, works... i don't have the IR Server loaded.

now a question... if i press STB setup, choose the right preset, load it, test with the test button (it does change the stb channel) and press ok on that window... am i done? or i have to go in the "IR Commands" tab and learn commands there?

i ask that because, when i load the MP client, and go in a channel where i have configured, like "110" in the channel, "Italia" In the Country, and "CVBS#1" in the Tuner, it does go in cvbs but it does not change the channel (the ir blaster don't light up)

    The separate one.

The separate one is not compatible with IR Server Suite. So if you try to run them both at the same time they will conflict.

it seems that, after some fiddling, the test of the blaster in the tv server config panel, works... i don't have the IR Server loaded.

    See above.

now a question... if i press STB setup, choose the right preset, load it, test with the test button (it does change the stb channel) and press ok on that window... am i done? or i have to go in the "IR Commands" tab and learn commands there?

Once it's setup in the STB Setup area you are ready to. You may need to restart the TV Service though.

i ask that because, when i load the MP client, and go in a channel where i have configured, like "110" in the channel, "Italia" In the Country, and "CVBS#1" in the Tuner, it does go in cvbs but it does not change the channel (the ir blaster don't light up)

Try restarting the TV Service. And then re-test.

If you are using IR Server Suite to control the mediaportal client and the client is on the same pc as the server they will conflict with eachother.

    Hope that helps,
