Hi there, i've just taken the leap from my tv to tv server and i seem to have my share of problems adjusting. (single seat)

I started out with a completely fresh format this afternoon, installed xp service pack 3.

sql
sql manager
media portal 2.3
tv server Rev17890
tv server plugin
media portal svn Rev17890

in that order.

I'm using a hauppauge hvr-4000 to pick up dvb-t channels (NZ) and don't seem to have any issues picking them up, timeshifting, gathering epg or even pre-viewing them (i only get audio but i assume thats normal) within the TV server management consol.

That all said and done i thought i'd have a fairly easy time going into MP, click tv and away i ago, alas it's not that easy. I can pick up the epg data within mp, but am totally unable to turn on the tv button to veiw any tv.

I'm not sure where i've gone wrong, or what i'm missing, if someone could please let me know i'd be gratefull.

Thanks
Logan.

Install MP svn first, then install TVserver Plugin, as setting may be affected.

Check in MP config\plugins\windowsplugins, hover over My TV plugin, should say "TV Engine V3" and show as being enabled.

Also do you know about the AMD690G problems with MP

I am having kind of the same problem.

It used to work perfect for me, but then I installed a new SVN and TVserver version and the TVserver database crashed. Now I am trying to revert to the old version, and I get the same issue as you. My PC is named "multimedie", and this is also stated as the host name in MP, but the server-name in TVserver is now changed to an IP-address, and I cannot figure out (forgot) how you change this to the name of the PC.

This is obviously a single seat installation.

I was aware of the 690g problems, i've uninstalled all but sql and the sql manager and re-installed all

    mp 2.3
    mp svn
    tv server
    tv server plugin

tv engine 3 was showing up when hovering of the tv plugin in config before, it's still doing it now, i'm capable of seeing availaibe streams within mp, i just can't turn on the tv to be able to recieve image or sound.

i've also noticed i don't have the group button within mp, is that normal?

edit. new log file has appeared.

    it's called error.txt

Try turning off your firewall and see if that allows it to work.

Are you seeing the server name\IP address in MP config\television\tvclient as below

    sshot-14.jpg

Have you got your codecs for mpeg\h.264 set under television.

What happens when you try to turn TVON? Do you get an error message? OR just nothing happens? Or does it appear to turn TV On but you just get no picture and no audio? If it does turn TV on but with no vid/aud then try to fire up graphedit at that point and "connect to remote graph" and then you'll be able to see what direct show is doing in terms of what codecs are being used. Failing that try the same thing when previewing in TVServer. Preview not showing a picture:Codec alarm bells are ringing.

@ Mcraenz turning on tv in media portal just does nothing, also preview doesn't display anything, i can hear the audio but no image, if it is codecs i'm unsure whats caused it, i was of the understanding that mp and tv server install all the codecs required for proper play back.

Paranoid Delusion, at the moment i don't have a firewall installed on the media pc, it's ip address is 192.168.1.11 though and thats the value i use/see in the mp config screen. also again this is a single seat set up, so i'm not sure if i should use the computers name (media) or the ip, but i have already tried both.

No not h.264 codec I don't think. Try what I said re:graphedit. Take screenshot for us :)
