Is there a default path proposed? Theoretically you can put them anywhere you like since the reference is created in the registry. So you may just create a subdirectory somewhere and install into it. If things fail again, it wil be easier to get rid of it.

No default path was proposed that I could see, so I created a "DirectX 9" folder in my "Downloads" directory. When I opened the folder to verify that the files were there, I noticed an application called "DXSetup." I ran the app, then tried the MP2 setup again--AND IT WORKED!! Now all I have to do is go through the regular configuration process--I hope!! Thanks for your help!!

    Excellent :)

Unfortunately the whole DX9 story is really tricky. I will update our Wiki accordingly and refer to the download that I suggested in my posting and advise to then run DXSetup manually.
