The 1.3 Alpha only offers me the Fresh Install option.

EDIT: Using the individual deploy packages I can update though.

Thats because you are using a GIT/Area 51 version?!

Ah, OK. Like I say, it wasn't a problem as I could just run the individual packages to upgrade :)

Upgrade only works from a release version.

Well I have upgraded using the individual deploy packages (I selected Upgrade in them and it's still got the pre-existing files (plugins, skins) in the Program Files and Program Data folders.

Are you saying that shouldn't have worked?

That is not an official upgrade pathway, but it should most probably work.

However, since you have upgraded from a GIT build (Area 51) there may be other files left behind that could cause incompatibilities. Therefore, please do not report problems based on this configuration.

OK, I guess I'll do a fresh install sometime and only report issues after that.

OK, so can I use BackupSettings to backup my MP and TV Server settings (just the TVSettings.xml, TV Server Programs Folder, Program .xml files and Plugins), then delete the Program Files folders, do a Fresh Install and then restore my backed up settings and plugins?

I've got some errors in tvserver_error.log at the moment (and in error.log but those are all ARC-related and probably not serious). I haven't noticed any problems but hopefully a fresh install will clear up whatever's causing those errors.

Hmm, even with only those two things checked for MP, it still backs up all the .dll files in the MP folder, which is not what I want as I just want to backup the settings so I don't have to go through setting those all again.

All settings for MP Config are stored in the MediaPortal.xml file which you can find in this dir:
    C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal

In that same directory you'll find .xml files for the plugins you've installed. For example the SubCentral.xml file, which stores the settings for the SubCentral plugin. Your databases & thumbs (folders) are also stored there.
Easiest way is to backup that folder, then do a clean install and after that copy back the files you need.

Got a reply from SD ... "Looks like your last successful download was on 5/23. Fixed, I think. Certainly the vintage MP2 installer that I was using no longer installs the LAV filters. I can only assume that these were never part of the install package itself, but rather downloaded during the install, and that link no longer exists. Shame that the installer doesn't indicate this. Last time when I installed the...

Thanks very much, Jasmeet. Worked. But note that this setting has moved, apparently, to: Settings > TV (not Plugins)
