iMON Ultra Bay doesn't work correctly with MediaPortal

This is the first way for me to use iMON Ultra Bay together with MediaPortal. :D

But I have have two big problems.

1.)
In iMON Manger I set the optien "use 3rd party software". The iMON knob on desktop goes from blue to yellow. This seems o.k.
If I start MediaPortal than I can see in systray a second iMON icon and iMON knob on desktop changed again to blue. The other icon in the systray have a yellow exclamation mark.
The frontdisplay shows the correct informations from MediaPortal an the iPAD (remote controller) works.
So far it seems o.k., but after a system reboot, the iMON kob is blue again and MediaPortal doesn't work together mit iMON Ultra Bay. The iPAD doesn't work, too!
In iMON Manager is the option "use 3rd party software" never marked.
After resetting this option and new starting MediaPortal works it again. With two icons in the systray!
I have no idea for a correct setting, that MadiaPortal works permanently correct together with iMON Ultra Bay.

2.)
If I shotdown my system (over POWER knob on iPAD, during MediaPortal runs) the frontdisplay doesn't go off. The last information remains constant. The display doesn't goes off although the computer is off! So I have to switch off the Power supply on PCs back side. This is not usable.

Is this a bug in the plug-in?

Please help me everyone, I'm very helpless.

Hi Testudo,i have an Imon UltraBay too and work great thanks to this plugin so maybe i can help you.

1)You don't have to select the "use 3rd party software".Now go in Imon Manager-Imon utilities-Frontview and inside "common" tab select "never"(This meen that imon LCD will not longer start when Imon Manager start;see Frontview attached screenshot)
Now configure the plugin in Media Portal(try my setting attached in "External Display Configuration 1+2" screenshots;Ignore the font a used just leave your in default)

2)If all goes well you will not have this issue anymore.I hope all this will help you.

    Regards

    Hi cybrmage,

I have just upgraded my HTPC to the latest MP/TV3 and then I also updated your driver to the 11.19.2007 version.
Now my VFD using SG_VFD v3 doesn't work anymore. Reverting to your driver version 11.12b.2007 works fine.

Can you review if something happened to the VFD code please ?

    Hi

Have been using Media Portal for a while, after having migrated from my old xbox with xbmc to a Silverstone GD01MX HTPC.

Have finally got the lcd working - sort of.

The display activates and shows stuff, but the top 3-5 rows of pixels are deactivated, so the top of the text is cropped.

Is this a driver issue or a configuration issue?

Help and advice would be greatly appreciated , have spent hours getting this thing up and running.
    Cheers

Am using 0.2.3.0 of media portal , with the 11-19-2007 version of the processplugin.dll

Sounds to me like a fault with the unit. I have the same one and have never seen my display do that.
But then again, I haven't set mine up with MP yet....

    This was a great answer!

I set my MediaPortal and my iMON accordingly your post and now it works nearly correctly.

A littly bug is however available! The buttons in front of the display doesn't work.

I'm glad it's working now.I know those buttons doesn't work and i don't know if cybrmage can do something about it.I would be glad if Cybrmage manage to get all the display functions(icons) to work (the speaker configuration would be great cybrmage)instead of the buttons cause IMHO almost all here are using a remote.

    Regards!

The buttons on the UltraBay are NOT part of the DISPLAY hardware... they are part of the REMOTE hardware and have the same function as the iPad remote buttons with the same name... To get them to work, you need to map them using the iMON software...

It is possible... but... The display (both VFD and LCD) require external power... If you disconnect the power lead from the unit (with the USB still connected) The device will shut down... So, to get it to work with a laptop, you will need to provide some sort of external power to the device via a power adapter of some sort... ( I just found a wiring diagram for the iMON inside/UltraBay/VFD/LCD module... It indicates that only 5V is required... so you should be able to get away with a 5V power adapter... but it does not state the power draw... so I would avoid trying to scavenge 5V power for this from a USB port)
