Bloody Fantastic.... I be in the good books tonight.

Great ending to a day. Was pulling my hair out configuring split tunneling over VPN with NAT'ing at every turn and had just worked it out... (dont assign a nat address on the broadcast)...long story ...dont ask...

ie: ip nat pool sap-client x.x.175.103 x.x.175.103 prefix-length 30 (bloody 103 is the broadcast you fool)

Many thanx, cybrmage - keep up the good work! :D
Everything works beyond expectations now on my Antec Fusion v2 silver with VFD
(the black Fusion has LCD), although I am missing one important feature...

My issue is similar to deathnite's (and i don't mean the disrespecting of women) ;), the
problem is the display still showing text when in idle/standby/off mode. To clear a VFD
from idle mode text in MP, it is possible to delete the default message (MediaPortal/Time)
in ExternalDisplay.xml for those interested. I reckon it will not turn off an LCD though.

Clearing the standby/off message is the tricky part;

As the iMON VFD itself does not completely power off with the computer, the current
message on the display will show until the iMON driver is reloaded. When I use FrontView
only, this is not a problem as the standby message can be set to blank. With Mediaportal
however, the display will read "MediaPortal not active" after MP is closed (or the
computer is turned off from inside MP). The only solution is to clear the display by
activating FrontView.

Loading the ExternalDisplay plugin seems to force the FrontView option Run When iMON
Starts to "never" (which means I have to reset this option to "always" whenever I want
to use the VFD outside MP). Wouldn't it also be possible to incorporate a function to
re-enable FrontView on exiting MediaPortal?

So... as I wish to use MP with the VFD, but without the hazzle of having to manually
restart FrontView to clear the display before shutting down the computer, my request
is if possible an added option to;

<preferably>
- automatically (re)start FrontView when Mediaportal is closing/non-active.

<alternatively>
- clear the display when closing Mediaportal (i.e. change the "MediaPortal not active"
standby message to blank).

FYI, I am using the iMON_7_00_1112_BETA drivers with the latest ProcessPlugin version.

Cheers,
freddie

But, since you have an Antec Fusion 430, you have an LCD.

Thanks for the help, I thought this was a VFD as stated on the antec website:
http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=15740#
"Aluminum plate front bezel with Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD) and Volume Control to work with media center applications."

I don't get everything but I'll stick with the classic text since the only way for the graphical mode to display everything is by setting the font at 5 and I can't read it anymore :)

Actually... you are right... I forgot that Antec changed the names on the Fusion series.

Sorry bout that....

But... That leaves the question... How can you use graphical text mode with a VFD??? The VFD does not support bitmaps!?!?!?

What is the firmware version for your display (as reported by the iMON software)??

Actually... It's rather easy to clear the display when MediaPortal exits (or the machine hibernates).... Select "Backlight" in ExternalDisplay settings.

Oh! Cool! I never realized that... :) I just figured it was a setting for LCD displays exclusively. Thanx!

This is good news and I am very happy with the plugin atm, even though it means I still have to restart FrontView if I want to show stuff on the display when I use the desktop. (Don't really know why I wanna do that anyway...) :p

I have the same Antec Veris Fusion 430 in silver, which has the VFD. Black has LCD.

I tried to check to the "force graphical text" option, but this only results in a blank display. Also, I don't think you can really change the contrast on the VFD. Are you sure you have set Rows to 2 in TextMode? Also make sure you have the latest iMON drivers and the latest plugin.

Good luck!

    Here is a new version:

    Fixed: If "turn off display while playing video" was selected, VFD would not turn off if "Use Equalizer" was not selected.
    Added: Option to turn off the display after a period of time if MediaPortal is idle (does not work with "Force Graphical text")

    cybrmage,

    this new version is working fine again with VFD+EQ+V3 dll. Thanks for your good work!
    Any chance to have your work commited to SVN ?

    any change to have your work in the SVN ? I think that now the right developper would be dman_LCF.
