Please read the rest of the thread, get some logs and provide more information about what is not working and perhaps someone can help.

Unless proven otherwise, our ability to telepathically help anyone is rather limited :p

Ok, now display starts up when setting LCD type to "LCD2", but display data seems to be sort of corrupted. The "main " display area doesn't display anything, only the little predetermined display areas like "MP3", "Music", "Time" etc. and the two bars work.
Same issue when setting to "Auto Detect".

EDIT: Don't know what the hell was going on now... Display broke up completely after using the new version for some time. Even when restarting the pc, the display was broken up during boot. I had to turn off the power completely (on power supply) to get it work again. After that, exactly the same issues as mentioned above are there again.

Display broke up completely

The fact that neither the "AutoDetect" or "LCD2" mode work properly points to a probem with the display itself (as the code for autodetect hasn't been changed is several versions)

I looked at the logs and they appear fine....

The "Corrupt data" is a symptom of sending too much data to the display to quickly... This is usually caused by the Equalizer display. When the EQ display sends too much data to the device, the device become unresponsive and requires a power down...

So... First of all... power down your display completely (which you've already discovered) and try enabling the "Limit equalizer display update rate" option and set it initially at 20 updates per second... If that doesn't work we'll start trying some other stuff...

I used the latest Process Plugin, if i start the configuration of the external display i got the following error:
Code:
Unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click Contionue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application close immediately.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

If i click on continue, it doesn't go on with my external display setup.
Quit close de MediaPortal Setup.

Heres the ouput of the error.

I followed your steps, equalizer works now but in a very laggy way. Menu points aren't displayed at all. With iMon Manager "auto" or "always" mode everything works normal, also the equalizer when playing some music within winamp.

That is normal. For the "VU Meter" or "VU Meter 2" displays, we have to draw the entire screen... and the SG_VFD.dll that interfaces with the display can only manage to handle enough data to redraw the screen four times per second. The "Normal" and "Stereo" displays use the Equalizer display routines build into the display, and can update the display up to 60 times per second (although this rate for more than a second or two will lock up the display).

Menu points aren't displayed at all.

Please explain this in more detail... I don't understand what you are trying to say... sorry.

Ok, i'll try ;)
When I start MediaPortal, LCD should first display "MediaPortal" in first line and the clock in the second line, then it should display the selected points of mediaportal menu in the 16x2 area of the display like "TV", "Music" and so on. When I select a music or video file, it should display the filename etc.
But the 16x2 area of the display keeps blank all the time. The only thing that is displayed is the equalizer when playing a music file as mentioned before as well as the little tokens around the 16x2 area like "Music", "TV", "Time".
I hope that makes it easier to understand, otherwise I would try to take a picture ;)

Greetings,
Stefan

EDIT: With the former release, all went nice. Unfortunately I already deleted the "b" and "c" versions of your plugin, maybe you could bring one of those back for me. Then I could test, if it is a general problem this time, or if it's really caused by your new plugin version.

The driver can't open the display... so it is disabled... I've made some changes... hopefully it helps.

Unfortunately I already deleted the "b" and "c"

I have reposted the b and c versions....

If one of these works, please post a log from it, and from todays version so I can see what has changed more clearly... But... The fact that the icons and progress bars are working indicates that the driver is communicating properly with the display... and your last log shows that it is updating the display area... very strange...
