Note also that if you are using a creative card you can enable one of the spatial modes at the *driver* level: from memory None, CMSS, CMSS2 or Dual stereo
These will expand to all speakers - in much the same way as a dedicated receiver would.
*ALSO* you can enable driver bass redirection.
I have my CMSS mode set to None (I don't like the spatialiser effect) but I do enable bass redirection.
In that way my sub gets used as expected.

Because this happens at the driver level it doesn't need any application or dshow filter support.

I assume most decent soundcards provide this or equivalent options.

Works a treat in MyMusic, but won't play the streams in the last.fm plugin anymore! The following is displayed:
"No stream active
Playback of selected stream failed"
