Using MyMovies database (2 Viewers)

I'm converting from MCE to mediaportal. I'm using mymovies to catalogue my films. Is there anyway to import the xml file from mymovies, or the database (.mmb), into my films? Thanks

I am using MP and I have MyMovies installed. I just set up two folders for videos, one for the kids and one for the adults with a password. I get to both of them through My Videos. MyMovies does a great job getting hi-res movie covers and the info but the info can't be accessed from MP that I am aware of. I was looking at ANT and MyFilms but I couldn't find a way for ANT to scan the drive automatically like MyMovies does. I asked the author of MyMovies about MP before I got a new PC that could even run MCE and he seemed to get quite offended and said that MyMovies should only work on MCE. My work around seems to work for me though. With MPTVSeries and My Videos working great, I only wish that I could get the TV function working properly. That is my most frustrating issue.

I also noticed that there was a branch off of the www.thetvdb.com that provides the database to the MPTVSeries. Perhaps somebody could make a few mods to the MPTVSeries to work with the new database and then we wouldn't need the MyMovies plugin. The adress for the movie db is www.movie-xml.com. Would really make another sweet plugin for MP but it is way beyond my expertise to write it.

Can you give me an example of your xml file ?

MyMovies is using SQL Express... since thats just another database... shouldn't be that hard ;-)


One nice way would be to create a view that MyFilms access the MyMovies database records thru.

If you create an option to connect to "any" database thru ODBC (or whatever suites you) to a database. And then anyone can set up a custom view with rownames that you specify.
In that case you can connect to MyMovies or any other database-driven application as long as you know some sql...

Sure send me your db, My movies xml compatibility is already done but some tests'd be better
