AW: WARNING: pixelation/corruption on h264 channels.

    @tourettes
but with ATI and MS DTV drivers i have heavy pixelation not watchable german HD channels. With PDVD10 everything is fine.

    Here the same.
It seems that only PDVD10 is working correctly.
    Cat 10.5
    ARD HD

    Not here.
Here with MS codec ARD and ZDF are unwatchable whereas with PDVD10 it works most of the time, meaning I see the same kind of pixelation a few times per hour. Sometimes the pixelation then starts and is infinite until I stop TV or switch channel.

Just to put my recent experience into the pot....

Had been running RC3 with PDVD9 Codecs - BBCHD working fine
Upgraded to RC4 a few days ago.
Then yesterday watched some BBC HD - Experienced stuttering :(

Not sure if RC4 has caused the issue or BBCHD channel has changed??

So I reapplied SAF - still stuttered - Everything else was ok.

Tried turning DXVA off for PDVD, but experienced microstutters. :(

Then tried upgrading from 10.2 to 10.5 - still stuttered.

Thought I'd try ffdshow (ie no DXVA codec) - solved the stuttering, but had pixelation at times.

So I thought "what the hell, lets try another codec"... Switched to MS DTV - this works great, no stuttering on BBCHD, and its DXVA (cpu usage 20% or less) :D

But I do find the PDVD codec on SD gives a better picture, so I'm using both codecs (SD=PDVD, HD=MS DTV)

    Many thanks,

    J.

There are no video playback / frame rendering changes between RC3 and RC4.

AW: WARNING: pixelation/corruption on h264 channels.

Yesterday I posted a comment on Nigel Dessau's blog which was mentioned on the initial post (celebrating-windows-7) where I put a backlink to this thread and also partially quoted the response from Microsoft regarding the issue. Today I saw that my comment was removed and the thread was closed.

This seems to be the way marketing works at AMD (it was the blog of the chief marketing officer at AMD)

    Hi.

This seems to be a huge issue and debat is going on in multible forums. Im preparing document for playback issues and I would like to know facts on this, so is:
Is this Vista & 7 only?
    X64 only?

There are also reports that ati cards work fine in w7 32bit. I think I should mention this as it seems that Ati and ms are blaiming each other and they wont fix it.

    Br,

    Br,

I only tested Win7 32bit which is affected.
As Microsoft reported that ATI has withdrawn their request on this issue, there is nothing MS can do/fix.
