What has Media Portal got against the UK Channel 4Seven? Not able to map (1 Viewer)

Installed Mediaportal 16 and the EPG is a bit rubbish, but I have been able to tune the channels and map them, but why has 4seven been omitted? To see all of the soft-porn channels listed and able to be mapped, but not 4seven is disappointing. How can I get the listing for 4 seven?

Please provide details of your system.

Please provide logs [links to how in in the FAQ's].

MediaPortal does NOT omit channels - it has NO idea of WHERE you are and WHAT is in your region hence omission IS impossible.

What IS possible is the data associated with your local broadcast provider is out of date in MediaPortal [change of transponder frequency meaning the relevant coverage is not in place] - this is one of many possibilities, hence logs rather then vitriol may actually assist.

As MediaPortal is Freeware, supported freely by global team of dedicate bods freely [yes I'm repeating myself] giving their time, as is the support, but we do have a not unreasonable expectation that support is requested is a polite and positive fashion, please note that before posting detail and logs - there are lots of people who will be happy to assist but simply starting with outright abuse....... pointless and counter productive.

I apologise for my tone and curt message.I was super frustrated to find that a a major channel is not listed and so many 'alternative' ones are there. Like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife. I am in the UK, if anyone can tell me how they managed to get 4seven's listings, I would be most helpful. I don't know why it's so much simpler to get channel guides with Next PVR and other inferior media centres. But it is a very time consuming process with Mepo. I know how to generate logs and have attached them along with two images which may help you to see what I am working with

Please provide details on your system, specifically around TV Server and Tuner AND your local region [only time this is ever relevant is Also, please post the appropriate logs, using watchdog, this will provide config information as well as the events.

What is your objective with the EPG? Simple tune into X, record Y [actually tune/record multiple channels from a single tuner IF the source broadcasts are on same transponder channel], which really should not be problem for UK based Freeview using over air signal - clearly you have tuning sorted, so the EPG should be available - this is assuming your using over air Freeview/aerial based solution.

If your looking to use one of the XML EPG's, then which one do you have in mind, as these are bit more complex to set up but in most cases not that hard

Uodate - as not using TV actively at the moment, just done a scan - 4seven found on channel 47 - after Challenge and before movie4men - my local Freeview provider is Emley Moor.

To be clear, I have both 4Seven in HD & SD, but no listings, I am in London using Crystal Palace' transmitter via Freeview aerial on the roof with a dvb tv stick

Ok - your using a web EPG - have you confirmed the WEB provider you've chosen from listing carries 4seven listing? I've had a quick look at default 3 and it'#s not listed that I can see.

Might be a stupid question - but why aren't you using DVB EPG rather than the Radio Times Web EPG. Tick the box in the SD channel as a first try (as I can't remember if the HD one using dvb-t2 is supported). It's below radio channels in the above picture - apologies I can't do a screen grab, but my server has some issues just now...

There is no listing for 4seven in any of the 3 websites for mapping. This is why I am getting frustrated because other media centres just grab guides with no gaps. Now I have to try and tweak what should be so easily done. I think a simple solution is for a UK Mepo user to just explain how they get the epg for 4seven to work. Why is it so complicated? Can't someone smarter than me fix this in the next release of MePO. Can't there be a link embedded to a website that just scrapes the info? How do sichbo/nextpvr/wintv NEVER have issues with missing channel data? I a not bashing the volunteers here, but it's like going to a diner and not having sugar on the table. Should be automatically there

By the way, because the EPG is so problematic, I have disabled all of the tv channels apart from the HD ones. I do not want channels with missing info which extends the epg update. Of the channels remaining, the only one with no listing is 4seven. Just explaining this for anyone who wonders why I only have a dozen channels
