I have a question. I'm loving this application just using the Windows demo client. Is there a full featured Windows client? Controlling my MP computer from another computer is very handy for me. As always, TIA.

I don't think there is a "real" windows client, yet.
But everybody is invited to take the demo client and build something good on base of that! That's exactly what WifiRemote was made for (not considering CouchPotato for a moment ;))

I have just started to try and use wifiremote with ampdroid and am failing to get a connection. My phone and the PC are on the same wireless network. My windows firewall is off.

I have tried the demo client, and when mediaportal is loaded my PC appears in the list to connect to, however when I press connect it sells me it is 'connecting for ~ 2 seconds, then 'disconnected.
I am using wifi remote 0.6 but have tried 0.5 and get the same error. I am on Windows 7 with MP 1.2.2. I captured a fulls et of log files when trying to use the demo client, they are in the following post:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...ror-demo-remote-not-connecting-either-105523/

I also get the error when trying to load configuration, however if I remove the wifiremote section from the mediaportal.xml it works again (but only once) which means I need to remove this code every time I use the configuration.

I have Bonjour installed (I used the link within configuration). I configured ampDroid with the QR scan

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

WifiRemote 0.6.1 is out now, you can get it from the project page or (as soon as approved) the MediaPortal repository. See first page for changes and download locations.

    Hi,
could you maybe implement the function, that i can change the volume of the AVR over the USB-CEC adapter(HDMI CEC) from Pulse-Eight?
I dont know how difficult it is, but that would be very nice.

    i have ordered one...

    Sorry for my bad english!

A really nice feature would be an option to bind remote key (from the Amplayer remote control) to keybinds (and eventually executables) when Mediaplayer is not the active windows.
Specially usefull when using an external player.

My goal is to make a script/exe who take a filepath as arg and play it with mediaportal build in player using the wifiremote api.
(And then i want to build a to setup a third party exe player who launch files on Mediaportal build in player or other external player like MPC-HD, depending of their codecs, filename ...)

So i was hopping than even if a Third party player was setup in mediaportal config, using the param "FileHandler":"recording" will play the file with the build in mediaportal player, but that's don't seems the case.
Is that a bug ? Or intended ? Can it be fixed ?

First: fine plugin. Second: is there a difference in the way 'OK' and 'up/down' (etc) commands are relayed - compared to keyboard presses (i.e. a, b, c etc) - from a cliënt to the PC?

When I run a batch script it responds to keyboard presses from aMPdroid, but not to up/down/OK.

I had the wifi remote up and running for a couple of weeks with no issues other than occasional delays and hang ups. However, in the last couple of days, the remote will connect but not do anything; mediaportal does not appear to receiver any input. Thoughts? Thanks.

Just a purely informational post, in case someone is googling for the same problem I had where I couldn't connect to WiFiRemote:

WIFIRemote wasn't working for me at all since I installed it two days ago. I couldn't even connect using the DemoClient (the DemoClient didn't see the service, and trying to connect manually also failed). I checked the MediaPortal.log and saw WIFIRemote starting up with the Bonjour service and saying that it was accepting connections, but... nope, it wasn't! Neither was I able to connect using aMPdroid.

The solution (for me) was to remove Hauppauge IR.exe and HCW.exe (first by renaming them, then by uninstalling the Hauppauge Infrared Remote completely.) For whatever reason, HCWHelper was crashing (after every load of MP) trying to work with HCW, and that in turn was affecting WiFiRemote. Now that I can use aMPDroid as my remote control, I don't need the Hauppauge IR remote anymore anyway, so... :)

Still having problems with certain types of streams from MP, but that's an issue for another thread. Anyway, hopefully this is useful for anyone who comes across it in their searches!
