Fullscreen?

I can't believe I didn't see this thread sooner, but I'm very excited that Milkdrop is now working in MP. However I can't seem to get it to run in Fullscreen mode at all. If I select Start in Fullscreen from the Milkdrop config, when I start playing a track I get a minimized Bass Viz window in the lower left but no Milkdrop. If this happens and I exit MP I end up seeing a minimized Milkdrop window in the taskbar which vanishes seconds after MP closes. At first I thought this was because I had MP set to Always on Top so I disabled that option, but the problem persists.

If I tell it in the config NOT to start Fullscreen it works within MP but I can't figure out how to make it Fullscreen. I'm using a Firefly remote and have mapped "X" to the Maximize button on it. When I'm in my track listings with one playing back all it does is display an "X" where the track name info is. If I go to the Now Playing screen and hit it it doesn't seem to do anything at all. It seems I'm missing something obvious here as no one else seems to have this problem.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I have to Milkdrop to use Fake Fullscreen mode as my resolution is 1368x768x56Hz which is unsupported in the native resolutions. Has always worked fine with Winamp, so am thinking that this isn't the culprit, but figured it'd be worth mentioning anyway.

you shouldn't instruct milkdrop to use fullscreen.
it is mp, which does the resizing of the vis.

the keyboard shortcut to toggle fullscreen is "X". and that should work.
i'm using it with my MCE remote and don't have a problem.
try to use the keyboard and press "X", if you have the same behaviour as with your remote

i've read this thread 2 times and no, i can't get those winamp visualisations to work.

i have the latest relaese and a fast computer.
The visualisations runs perfect in winamp but not in mediaportal.
tried all the suggestions here but it won't work.

in Startup full screen mediaportal just stops completly, even my explorer bar is gone.
In windowed mode i get the vis in the small window of the thumbnail of the cd i'm playing..when i click on it for full screen (windowed) it's just a black screen.

tried milkdrop, geiss, and last twisted pixel. I give up after 4 hours reading, truying..it's a pity.

That's the only thing why i'm still using winamp for musicplaying instead of everything with mediaportal. You have no idea how nice those winamp visualisation looks on a big screen projector in my livingroom.

so please try to get it to work in mediaportal. It's strange that it's not a priority.
I've worked with xlobby (commercially now) and meedio (gone) and i know how people where happy when they've got it to work.

Btw keep up the great work on mediaportal

Why should it be a prioroty to make it work?
i have milkdrop, geiss and twistedpixel running without any problems.

lot of people tell me it works fine for hem like for me.
others, like you tell me it doesn't work.
    fine.

if you could tell me, what you tried and maybe post some logs, where there are errors inside, i might be able to help.

Thats the problem :) it doesn't make a log file. It freezes and shut down (music still playing in the background) even my explorer bar is gone. It's still there but i can't see it. I have to kill it in the task manager to get it back.

I can only see one solution..you have to make a zip file with the correct .dll files of milkdrop and geiss. I donloaded the latest milkdrop and it's not an .dll but an .exe file. I even tried renaming it to.dll to let it work:).

Maybe just a zip with all the files we need so we can unzip it in the correct folder.

i have no idea's left..just that a miss a dedicated visualisation like milkdrop for mediaportal.

    Thanks for the quick reply

kasper - Why not start with telling us all what you have for video card and the associated driver version level. Then also tell us your CPU and speed, OS & service packs installed, CODECs you are using - all the normal stuff to get started to see if there are any clues in troubleshooting.

Plus what skin are you using?

Does MP produce ANY log files or are you saying that the freeze doesn't add any info into th existing log files?

works here beautifully (xp pro, asus MB w/onboard nvidia video...) I love it! Even do no more dev & I remain very happy!

    but then again...

Now when you get bored, make milkdrop2 work? Nice to stay on a preset, go to previous preset, general milkdrop controls from keyboard/remote... but yes these are small details, so only to do if you are bored.

    THANK YOU!!

Well, i'm n ot too bored nowadays.
The API for controlling a vis has totally changed, so the testing effort is too high and the risk to break anything even higher.

Once we've released 0.2.3, i might take a look into this issue.

Turns out that the "X" is case-sensitive, and should actually be "x". I had mapped a capital "X" to the Maximize button on the remote which is why it wasn't working. Tested on keyboard with a lower-case "x" and have now mapped that and it's working great.

    Thanks for the help!

any reasonthis plugin shouldnt work? I can run it in config and it looks great there, but inside MP i get something like 1 FPS. Its not a matter of resources as ive tried running it in winamp with MP running in the back. CPU load is around 30% i think.

edit: Never mind. How is that debugging of the tripex going?
Wa3d doesnt work either, it uses default config. When i config the visualization plugins, where does the config files get stored? Was wondering if i might be able to edit those files manually to get wa3d to run with higher res and other settings.

    it work :)
make a winamp.exe fake in root from Mediaportal
create a textfile and rename it to Winamp.exe then winamp goes 3D work without any problems

    greets
