You need to use the latest public SVN build.
milkdrop2 support was added after the 0.2.3 release

it simply means that it crashed. looks like that on your machine, for some reason, i can't load milkdrop2.
    try with the older version.

I have MediaPortal 0.2.3.0 and Winamp 5.51 build 1741 beta

    My Mediaportal Folder structure:

    ....\MusicPlayer\plugins\visualisations\Milkdrop2\*.milk
    ....\MusicPlayer\plugins\visualisations\vis _milk2.dll
    ....\MusicPlayer\plugins\visualisations\nscrt.dll

In the configurator on Visualization tab i have selected "MilkDrop 2.0b (Winamp)" after that i recived next messages:

"This plugin reqires Winamp 5.12 or later"

then "Error Start VisModule" after that MediaPortal configurator is crashing.

    What's problem?

    OK.. the solution is !
Copy from Winamp Folder "User-Generated Microsoft (R) C/C++ Runtime Library"
nscrt.dll to the root folder of MediaPortal then milk2.0b work and Mediaportal can load it.

Noticed it as well, however i don't have a solution for that, as it closes down without any error or whatever.

I used to have frequent shutdown. I solved them (apparently) copying all the content of MediaPortal/MusicPlayer/plugins/visualizations/ directory in the root folder of mediaportal. Even nscrt.dll is on both directory. Now I do not experience any shutdown. Maybe it's related to:

The reason is that some Visualisations, like G-Force and some Sonique Viz, are changing the Startup Path. When we now reference a file relative, we will not find it. We've changed most of it, but sometimes, like in this case there's still a wrong reference.

Ok I finally got it to work! :)

    What I did:

-Installed the latest svn build (23-12-07)
    -Installed the latest Winamp
-Copied the folder winamp\plugins\Milkdrop2 to team mediaportal\mediaportal\musicplayer\plugins\visualizations
-Copied the file winamp\plugins\vis_milk2.dll and nscrt.dll to team mediaportal\mediaportal\musicplayer\plugins\visualizations
-Copied the file nscrt.dll from above to team mediaportal\mediaportal

That's it. I don't know which preset milkdrop2 will choose because we can't pick one from mediaportal's config, but at least it works!

i re-installed it, and the same thing hasppened. Milkdrop worked the first time, then never again after that. It starts in the config window and i can eneter the milkdrop config and all, but when i goto view it inside mediaportal i just get a black box. Can somone please help?

NOTE: i have tried both milkdrop v4 and v5.03b6

ok, i fixed that problem, it was somthing to do with internet radio auto playting when i opened media portal.

This bug is still in the SVN version, as of late December. If you have a radio station configured to start playing each time MP starts, then you don't get the configured visualization, you do get a visualization, but not the right one. And if you change the station then the screen just goes black. If you uncheck the station to auto play in MP configuration, then when you play a radio station everything works as expected (you get the correct configured visualization). So it seems there is something not getting initialized correctly for the case when the radio station is set to auto play when MP starts.

Thanks for the work on this feature, it's awesome having these visualizations!

    Visualizations with TVEngine3?

I'm using rev 16988 of TVServer (last nights build) and MediaPortal-svn--01-08-2008--01-04. I see that you have to define the shoutcast stations in the tvserver configuration, instead of inside MediaPortal configuration. I can get visualizations to work with the ShoutCast stations, but I do not get any visualizations (only tried MilkDrop2 so far) to work with DVB-S radio stations. Is this expected to work?

    Thanks
    Greg.

don't know. i'm not using TVServer yet. Is it configured to do playback via BASS? then the vis should work.
