I made a batch-file with "C:\Users\Richard\Downloads\MediaPortal\MpResolutionSupervisor.exe 1360 768 7" in it and put file that in the StartUp-directory.
In my case the DOS-window did not close automatic after the command was executed. "Bat to Exe Converter" solved that issue (Close and exit batch files)
Using VNC as described in this thread fixed my issues completely. This works because windows 7 remembers these settings when it encounters these changes in inputs again
I had 2 other issues not mentioned that this also fixed:
1./ once on TV then change channels screen size changed to standard VGA after returning to MP and alt+Enter couldn't fix this (so make sure you do this as well and set your default screen size).
2./ Time shift stopped completely when changing TV to different input (now it carries on time-shifting).
Remember to do every combination that can flow back to the HTPC and set to your optimum screen size.
I've just unwrapped my brand new toy - Onkyo TXSR508 - and every time I switch source (i.e. PS3 to HTPC) I hit this problem
I've tried both the 'fixes' suggested here:
EDID override - I created the driver using v2.5 of Moninfo from EnTech Taiwan | Utilities | Monitor Asset Manager and it installs, I create the INF and install that but it seems to have no effect - I'm not sure if it's not overriding or what - not sure how to check??? (I also tried "Vlad's" method but am unsure how to turn bin into inf)
VNC - I installed and this solution showed promise but the resizing seems to occur when I switch from another source back to the HTPC - and while in VNC I do see the screen momentarily flash (as it resizes) - I'm talking literally a flash - and it's back to full size - so I have less than a second or two (meaning I can't get in and change the resolution).
Does anyone have any idea how to make either of these options work at all???
I'd like to bump this back up as well... I had my setup working just fine but did a full windows/mediaportal reinstall in celebration of the new final version 1.1.... and low and behold my issues is back and for the life of me I can't remember what I did (if anything) to fix it before.
I'm using a 240GT nVidia card with HDMI going to a Denon receiver in Win7 x64.
Anyone else have other ideas for solutions to this?! Its so annoying to have to restart MP or restart the machine just because MP (or Windows) doesn't know how to properly resize a window.
Anyone have modified nVidia drivers that never change resolution? Or know of a registry entry that prevents resolution resizing?!
This is still a problem for me as well. My HTPC is hooked up directly to my Samsung tv through HDMI. I use the set in watch-tv-mode, with the tv on, and listen-to-music-mode, with the tv off. The problem occurs when I switch the set from standby into watch-tv-mode and when I switch from listen-to-music-mode to watch-tv-mode. The first was solved, most of the time, by the new delay start-up setting. Since I changed the skin from Blue3Wide to X-factor, the problem is back. I may be able to fix this by increasing the delay though.
However, the delay doesn't fix the problem at all as it occurs when switching from listen-to-music-mode to watch-tv-mode.
I find it hard to accept that something in the code makes MP default to 800x600, but can't be forced to default to 1920x1080 instead. Ultimately, the Windows desktop and other applications don't suffer from this.
I've seen a couple of workarounds in this thread, but I'm not sure if any of these will fix my problem. Any suggestions?
Also, I haven't been able to find this issue back in the bug tracker. Shouldn't it be in there?
