All my video issues resizing the screen causing MP to resize to half the window, are now gone with an updated NVidia driver for my video card.

I'm not sure if that solves your problem, but it is an easy one to try. I'm now able to turn on and off my TV as I like, with MP always exactly where I left it.

Well, this is very good news! I have ATI, but this means that the problem is on the driver side and CAN be easily fixed. Will try to update my ATI drivers and see if this helps. Can you look at the changelog of the Nvidia driver and see what might be fixed or added that probably solved the problem?

EDIT: upgraded to the newest ATI drivers, the problem still remains. How irritating is this, I just can't believe this could not be fixed?
Jadz: did the nvidia driver upgrade fix your problem completely?

I'm also experiencing this problem with MP 1.1.1 and an ATI HD4350 card. Latest Catalyst package installed, but to no help... :(

Hmm... I've read through all the 16 pages of this thread, and I'm a bit confused of which tool you're referring to? I did the test on page 3 with the maximised Windows explorer and when I returned to MP it had resized itself. However, after just a second it returned to full-screen, something MP never does.

AW: Windows 7 & half fullscreen

i switched from hdmi to dvi, and this solved this issue completely for me. i have my htpc connected to a receiver, so of course this is not a solution for people who need an audio signal to their tv as well.

overall this seems to be an ati driver issue (i have an ati 4250hd onboard).

another note which might or might not be interesting: i have no clue how this is possible - but after switching from hdmi to dvi output, mediaportal now runs smoother??!! i notice this when scrolling large lists (eg. in the moving pictures plugin) and generally during navigation. does this make any sense?

If I understand you correctly, you have hooked up your DVI port to a HDMI port on your receiver? I have a DVI to HDMI adapter on my HTPC, but I noticed that there are DVI to HDMI cables available (I'm using an optical cable for the sound anyway). Wonder if such a cable would solve this issue? I don't think this is a 100% driver issue, since other application seems to be able to handle the switching of signal sources.

not exactly...i use a dvi to hdmi adapter on the dvi port of my htpc and connected it to the hdmi input of my tv. only the soundcard is connected to my receiver via an optical cable.

and do you currently use the dvi output of your htpc or the hdmi output?

I use the DVI-port on my Radeon HD4350 via the DVI -> HDMI adapter, but it goes to a Yamaha RX-V767 surround receiver with dual HDMI out. One of these ports are connected to one of the HDMI ports on the TV.
The GFX-card dosen't have a HDMI port, just DVI and standard D-sub.

Update: Sound is OK now...Cat must have hit the mute button on my wireless keyboard ;)
