The issue is Windows changing the resolution! How many times do I have to say it.

The error is not with MP, it's just that MP doesn't know how to deal with the fact it's happening. It can be fixed with MP, but then it's only to get round the problem with Windows.

I agree, I even had the same problem with the screensaver! So, definately a windows 7 problem.

For me it's an MP problem as it doesn't react on the screen resolution change. I mean windows could change the one 200 times MP should react on this. Will look into this after my holidays.

    It is:

#1 Bug in Windows since it will cause the resolution to switch when it actually is not requested
#2 Missing functionality in MP. MP has not designed to work with dynamic resolution changes (usually you want to have 1:1 pixel mapping in all cases and let the GPU / MP do the video scaling to gain the best picture quality).

I'm with you - correct. But we cannot change the windows part ;-) But shouldn't then MP simply stay at the original resolution?

AW: Windows 7 & half fullscreen

i already wrote it some pages before...

in xbmc you get the exact same behaviour with the default screen mode "fullscreen inside a window" - but there is an option "use true fullscreen mode" which solves the issue there. i'm not a coder, so sorry if this is wrong, but maybe it is quite simple to implement this "true fullscreen mode" in mediaportal as well??!

Let's ask them how they did it! :)

I'm with Tourettes side on this!

But what I do not get, is the fact, that the fix for this is NOT planned to be solved within the next couple of MP releases!

The "bug" is grouped into "Future releases".
0003353: Windows 7 Half & Full Screen problem. - MediaPortal Bugtracker

Why? - The problem is well documented, and 246 posts + other threads(especialy German thread) confirms that this is quite a big issue in general usage of Mepo when you use HDMI!

Hopefully this will be re-priotized to a solution before Final 1.2.0!

Sorry to report a follow-up to my post on 15/03 - I still have the problem after Win7 SP1. It just took a few days to materialise. I would say it seems to happen less often than before but still not fixed.
I'm not clear on why it's ok sometimes and not others!
