I'm seriously considering switching to XBMC because of this annoying issue!

It F#"¤#" driving the WAF totally down.

Have trid both the VNC and reg fixes, but none of them seems to solve anything!

Even restart at resume seems to have issues, hence MP seems to crash once in a while.

This is my personal #1 bug in Mepo............and a general fix seems very far away!

Not planned for 1.2.3 or 1.30................So I guess it won't be in 2012:-(

Did you try post 366? No VNC or reg hack needed (at least for me, YMMV)

I have tried many suggestions in this thread, but without success.
The only solution for me is to switch to Windows Vista.
Is there a chance for a solution in MP 1.3.0?

    I know it's a Windows bug.
But maybe there i a way to solution i MP.
I've found that it helps to press the green button on the home Microsoft Remote at the right time when the TV is turned on. A way is to update the screen at the right moment.

Im pretty sure it doesn't happen on DVI connections.
It started happening here when I started using HDMI from my ATI hd6xxx card to plasma TV.

Atleast on ATI cards you are able to get audio out of the DVI port as well.
    I used to do this.
It depends on the DVI=>HDMI dongle u use. Some has pins for audio, some dont.
HDMI does give ur more color spaces to choose from, as DVI only supports RGB.
my sony LCD looks best with RGB, so in this case I use DVI->HDMI dongle, with sound.
    0 issues.
on my other htpc setup I need YCbCr 4:4:4 as the plasma looks best with this setup, thats why I went on to use HDMI here.
and then the problems started happening.

so do urself a favour, and figure out if u really need HDMI or not.

I can't use DVI -> HDMI. I have try. No sound. The PC send at emty audio stream out at the DVI port. And so my TV think it is HDMI with autio and I can't select analog audio input.
