AW: WorldWeather plugin v0.2.5 for MediaPortal v1.2.0 or higher

This are just the files for the plugin. I am not sure if it is possible to change the StreamedMP BasicHome Skin files to use the Information from the WorldWeather Plugin to display that in the top right. Or are there already adjustments for StreamedMP?

I can say this works.. you just have to edit the BasicHome.xml

    Hello everyone,

Sorry but I am having a little trouble setting this up. I'm using MP1.2 on win 7 home edition. I have attached a pick of my current profile. I am not getting any weather data with this profile. Is my city correct? I am in San Luis Obispo, CA, USA

Also if someone could give me a web site where I might find satellite images that would be great. I was never able to get this working with the old weather interface.

For now, until some of the code can be reworked (there is something off in the Lat and Long conversion routines), use whole numbers in the lat. and long., and leave off any city code or description, include the state in the city name (San Luis Obispo, CA). the plugin should be able to get the info then.

These US maps may do for a while, till you find something more useful.

Hey there Chuck. Thanks for the help. I tried pluging in web sites and only 1 seemed to work. If I put them into my browser, they worked. Changed the city to San Luis Obispo, CA and didn't get any data to fill in. I think that I'll wait a little bit until the bugs get worked out. Thanks againfor the help.

Hey Steve, I plugged in your city into my set-up, and got Weather data. I did set the timezone to (-8:00) Pacific Time, but left the lat and long at 0.

There was an odd behavior, though. When I added your lat and log values (rounded up), then the plug-in did not update the weather data for your city (profile 2), but rather, duplicated my profile 1 data (for my city). Leaving off the coord's gave proper data, without sunrise and sunset. Looks like it may be associated with the conversion issue.

Also, the links I gave you were cut and pasted direct from my WorldWeather xml. You might try going to the images in your browser, then copy and paste from the browser address line. You might not be getting the complete address with copy and paste from the abbreviated link in the forum.

Yes I also adjusted my BasicHome.xml. But it does not make sense to post the BasicHome.xml because normally it gets generated by the BasicHome Editor and I would think everyone has a different one.

    Hi.
I think it could be useful to post a modified basichome.xml. Not that anyone can use it as it is, just as example what to change on own basichome.xml. I can't do that as I don't use SMP so don't ask me ;)

On Backdrop (the skin I use) this is a lot easer as all weather information on basic home is in common.time.xml. And this xml is not affected by generating new basic home menu.

it would be very helpful if you could post your changings of the basichome.xml!

where could i find satellite images for vienna?

the streamedMP files works fine and looks good, but the don't support the 5-day-overview in the homemenu. i already get an entry in my homemenu with the weather background, but i have to press enter to see the big 5-days-forecast.

    regards

We will be releasing a StreamedMP update soon with WorldWeather support and 5-Day/TopRight weather on home screen.

In the meantime, if your desperate for it to work on BasicHome you can copy my one.

first of all thank you very much to developer for this great plugin :D
Attached you can find my (very) little contribution with italian strings file.
As improvement for the plugin, I wonder if you could add into the settings the possibility to choose a different language for google weather api.
Looking in Internet I've found this info "Language: This is an optional field. You must pass in an ISO 639-1 Language Code. For a list of ISO 639-1 codes, please go to List of ISO 639-1 codes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. By default, it is set to English (i.e. en)". Adding it I think we could have weather info's (cloudy, sunny and so on) in other languages than English, like for example it is possible in iGoogle.
I hope all is clear (I am Italian, so excuse me for my bad English)

    Thank you very much again

Hi again. Since you tried again to help me out, I felt I should give it another try and wanted to let you know that when I changed the lat and long to 0 and left the city and state in the city area field the data came in correctly :D

I also took a little closer look a the weather pictures and saw that the address for most of them I had was incorrect so that is why they didn't show up. Is there a way to find this type of image on the internet? I was thinking about going through NOAA.GOV, but I'm not sure if I just grab the address off the picture that I want and past it into the spot. Will it then automatically refresh or will it be a static picture until I put in a new address?

also when I am in the graphic area how do I switch back to the temperature and other outlook area. Seems I get stuck in the graphic area.

Good, I thought it might work...

As I suggested, you can go to the image via the browser using the link provided, then just copy/paste the correct address from the browser address line into your WorldWeather config. Do this for each image address (I always open them in another tab so I don't have to search for the links again).

The WorldWeather config (on the second tab) will let you set the refresh rate. or you can do a refresh in the GUI in MP. A new graphic would be updated when the site refreshes its graphic (using the same file name)

Depending on the skin, you can just click on the graphics button and cycle through to get back to the Forcast. Others may let you move down a list of Graphics (aMPed SVN does this) but the top Graphics button still cycles through to, for instance, the GeoClock then back to the Forcast.

    Good luck,

    Chuck
